Human resource management (HRM, or simply HR) is a

function in organizations designed to maximize employee

performance in service of their employer’s strategic

objectives.

HR is primarily concerned with how people are managed

within organizations, focusing on policies and systems. HR

departments and units in organizations are typically

responsible for a number of activities, including

employee recruitment, training and

development, performance appraisal, and rewarding .

Organizational behavior studies the human behavior and

helps the managers to understand the human’s behavior in

different situation .Therefore we can say that organizational

behavior has the strong link with the

“Human Resource Management”.

As a Chinese proverb suggests,

“If you wish to grow something for a season, grow mangoes. If

you wish to grow something for a year grow rice. But, if you

wish to grow something for a life time grow man power.”

HR here is divided into the following major categories

Permanent Employees

Outsourced Employees (1500 plus)

Product Layout: Product layout is used in PEL for production system. In

manufacturing engineering, a product layout refers to a

production system where the work stations and equipment

are located along the line of production, as with assembly

lines.

Usually, work units are moved along a line (not necessarily

a geometric line, but a set of interconnected work stations)

by a conveyor. Work is done in small amounts at each of the

work stations on the line. To use the product layout, the

total work to be performed must be dividable into

small tasks that can be assigned to each of the

workstations.

Because the work stations each do small amounts of work,

the stations utilize specific techniques and equipment

tailored to the individual job they are assigned. This can

lead to a higher rate of production.

Mainly there are two types of product Layouts.

1) Straight line Layout

2) U-type Layout

o In PEL, mostly workstations have a U-type Layout.

Material handling Equipment is equipment that relate to

the movement, storage, control and protection of

materials, goods and products throughout the process

of manufacturing, distribution, consumption and

disposal.

The methods of material handling used in PEL are

following :

1) Lifts

2) Roller Conveyers

3) Trucks and Trolleys

Lifts are used for moving men and unit loads in

vertical direction.

For heavy unit loads where unit loads are to be moved

over longer distances powered roller conveyors are

used. The rollers are driven at uniform speed by a

power drive. The friction of the roller pushes the load

forward towards destination.

Production centers with product layout use a large

variety of manuals and power driven trucks and

trolleys. The design of these devices depends on the

type and quantity of materials or parts handled.

Pak Elektron Ltd follows Mass Production system. Mass

production term is widely used to describle large scale

production.

It is not simply producing large quantities in flow production.

Infact mass production may even apply to manufacture under

job and batch production also. The large volume in mass

production results in reduced unit cost of production.
