Welcome! I want to personally and warmly welcome all of you! For 26 years now, St. Maria

SACRED HEART OF JESUS PASTORATEThis pastorate in Cicero, the first among many, has released its three-year rolling pastoral plan.
The weekend of June 11-13, 2021, was an exciting
one for the Sacred Heart of Jesus pastorate in Cice-
ro. Not only was the dispensation to attend Mass
lifted that weekend, but the parish had also just
celebrated its feast day on June 11. These events
together made it the perfect time to also roll out
their pastorate’s Pastoral Vision Plan, which they
had been working on for several months. “I devoted
my weekend homily to introducing the plan the
weekend of June 12 and 13,” said Father Sean
Pogue, missionary pastor of the Sacred of Jesus
pastorate. “We had just celebrated our feast day the
day before on June 11, so I incorporated that as
well. And since this was the weekend that COVID-
19 restrictions were lifted, it also felt like a re-
opening of sorts.”
As part of the Uniting in Heart 2030 Pastoral
Plan, pastorate leadership teams have been work-
ing with Our Sunday Visitor (OSV), the diocese,
and their pastorate consultant, Molly Clark, to for-
mulate a three-year rolling pastoral plan. Over the
last several months, Sacred Heart has collected
feedback from parishioners to guide their process
and spent much time in prayer to discern what
Uniting in Heart will look like at their pastorate
and to spread the love of Jesus Christ to all.
Since the plan rolled out in June, parishioners
have been very engaged and interested in under-
standing how the plan will take shape. “Personally,
I have received a ton of feedback from parishioners
who are ready to get moving,” said Annie Aker, di-
rector of evangelization for the pastorate. “Many
are excited about the programs—having looked up
the ones we are going to be implementing by pub-
lishers or asking questions about the ones that are
in the works by the leadership team.”
To make sure everyone had a chance to review
the plan, every registered parishioner received a
copy in the mail. The pastorate has also made sure
to keep the three-year rolling plan top of mind. “We
are always referencing the document,” said Emily
Sipes, director of operations. “We have them set out
in various places, and Annie dedicated the July/
August bulletin board in the narthex to the plan.”
Through all of this, the Holy Spirit has certainly
been at work. “Having had some great conversations
over the last month or so, the energy and movement
of the Holy Spirit has overflowed from the leader-
ship team and planning committee to the parishion-
ers who want to take on and embody the plan just
as much as we are embracing it,” said Aker.
Father Pogue agreed that the enthusiasm of the
parishioners has been rewarding. “I have had a few
people ask questions about some of the activities
that are listed in our plan or things they weren’t
familiar with,” he said. “One thing I have heard of-
ten is that there is a lot of stuff in the plan, and
some have wondered if we could do it all. To that I
responded that we have three years, a committed
staff, a growing parish, and a vibrancy that only the
Holy Spirit could bring, so yes, we can do it!”

BABY BOTTLE BANK?
Do you have a Respect Life Ministry baby bottle bank laying around your house? Perhaps your Little One thought it was hers and decided to keep it. If you find one at your house, please re-turn it to the Parish Office or drop it in the col-
lection basket on Sunday.
CRITICAL ADORATION HOURS: Prayer is the greatest wireless connection, and there’s no better recep-tion than praying in the presence of Jesus. Currently, two hours—Thursday, 3pm & Saturday, 4pm—do not have scheduled adorers.
ADDITIONAL HOURS: Prior to the COVID shutdown of 2020, as a parish, we were moving toward perpetual Adoration. As such, we are seeking adorers for the 1am hour, Monday through Thursday. as well as Sunday afternoon hours—4pm, 5pm, 6pm.
CARDLESS ACCESS: The Holy Spirit Chapel will re-main unlocked every Monday-Saturday, 7am-6pm. This means that everyone has access to pray before the Blessed Sacrament whether or not you have a keycard. Beyond these hours, however, a keycard is necessary and can be obtained, for free, at the Parish Office.
If you are interested in filling one of these critical hours, a new hour, or any hour that fits your schedule,
call Jeff Brown, 317-417-1540.
UPCOMING CURSILLO WEEKENDS
Have you been thinking about going on a Cur-sillo weekend but the time just has not been right? Now is the time to sign up for the fall weekends. The Men’s (September 30– October 3)
and Women’s (October 14–17) weekends will be held at St. Joseph’s Retreat Center in Tipton. Only 30 partici-pants from Central Indiana can attend, so please re-serve your spot as soon as possible. PLEASE NOTE: the women’s weekend is full and has a waiting list. However, the men’s weekend has 24 openings. The applications and info about the weekend can be found on the info table in the Church Narthex; on the SMG website, smgonline.org; or on the Cursillo website, cursillo-cicc.org. You may also contact parishioners Tom and Joan Scimeca, 317-571-8510, for more information.
MANDATORY ALTAR SERVER TRAINING SESSIONS
All 5th–8th grade boys and girls, who want to be an altar server for Lord’s Day Masses, must attend one of these training sessions—Sunday, September 12 or Septem-
ber 19, 12pm; or Thursday, September 23, 6:30pm. This training is mandatory for all who wish to serve, whether trained in the past or new to serving. At least one parent also must attend the training session. Par-ents must contact Jen Downing—jen.downing@smgonline.org or 317-867-3213, ext. 1221—to schedule the training session you and your child will attend. PLEASE NOTE: These are the ONLY server training sessions being held this year, and no other training will be provided until fall 2022. Fi-nally, any student who received server training at the Friday, August 27, 2021, SMG school session does not need to be trained a second time. However, if an SMG school student wants to serve at Lord’s Day Masses (Saturday evening 4:30pm or Sunday 8am, 10am, or 5:30pm), a parent MUST still schedule and attend one of the parent training sessions being held on the same dates and times as the altar server sessions. Questions? Contact Jen Downing.

This year we are provid-ing the opportunity for individuals to be an “angel” for adults, teens, and children going through RCIA. Besides praying for your person, you are asked to donate $25 to cover the cost of the Bible, Catechisms, and mate-rials. Contact Connie Anderson, c.anderson@smgonline.org, for more information.

Weekly Meditative Moment Cut or tear out and post in a prominent spot for your weekly prayer focus and meditation.
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? Indeed someone might say, “You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.
