About Us
The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) is the largest applied research institution, consultancy, and technical support service provider
in Jordan and is a regional leader in the fields of science & technology.
RSS provides expert testing services via over 25 specialized locally & internationally accredited laboratories and prides itself on
offering both the public and private sectors a unique scientific resource and a wide range of project expertise. Supported by
more than 500 science specialists, researchers, technical support staff, highly skilled management, and faculty, the RSS has truly
become recognized as a local, regional and international research and development hub.
Born out of the great heart and spirit of His Majesty the Late King Hussein and HRH Prince Hassan in 1970, the Royal Scientific
Society has, since day one, aimed high to be the local and regional reference point of knowledge for science and technology
using modern engineering research as a base to power economic development and social progress.
RSS proactively guides, supports and strengthens large governmental research projects and commercial incubators for both
small and medium enterprises. Industrial firms contract RSS to assess potential impacts on the environment and to recommend
practical solutions to minimize and control pollutants. RSS conducts standardized laboratory inspections on many of the foods
and products consumed daily by Jordanians.
A wide range of products are continuously inspected & tested including: detergents, paints, textiles, paper products, lubricants,
industrial and medicinal gases, in addition to building materials to ensure conformity with national and international standards.
In order to ensure compliance with the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) mandatory equipment servicing requirements as well as
guarantee that all the equipment is in proper working order, the (MOH) contracts the RSS to manage, service and maintain the
Kingdom’s vast supply of medical equipment.
Since its inception, RSS has led by example. As an independent industry leader, RSS has been at the forefront of Jordanian
renewable energy development and research, from wind powered water pumps and aerial generators to solar water heater
panels and solar receptors.
With the vast expertise accumulated by the Society over the years, it has established itself as a pioneer within the broader
international scientific community. RSS laboratories enjoy close personal co-operative ties with local, regional, and international
scientific organizations.
At RSS being customer–centric simply means having an unwavering commitment to the people of Jordan. The RSS continuously
strives to improve its standing as a point of reference for scientific knowledge and technical awareness, where quality standards
and public health become equal and totally uncompromised. RSS is unequivocally committed to testing with guaranteed
accuracy, and is dedicated to research and development.
As Jordan’s business and industry march into a modern 21st century, The Royal Scientific Society is reaching out, building
credibility by providing unique services with distinction and preparing Jordan for all the challenges of tomorrow.

The Conformity Assessment Centre (CAC) was established to provide
third party certification services including product certification,
personnel certification, and third party inspection services. CAC has
been able to build a robust reputation as a certification body in the local
and regional markets for its integrity, credibility and professionalism.
CAC is internationally accredited by the Hellenic Accreditation System
(ESYD) as per ISO/IEC Guide 65: General requirements for bodies
operating product certification systems and ISO/IEC 17024: Conformity
assessment - General requirements for bodies operating certification
of persons. Moreover, it is seeking international accreditation as a body
performing third party inspection according to ISO 17020.
CAC’s Main projects include: inspection of Liquefied Petroleum Gas
(LPG) installations in Jordan as an approved provider by the Ministry
of Mineral Resources and Energy, inspection of polyethylene pipes,
certification of local and regional Non Destructive Testing (NDT)

EWE 41
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
To study the overall environmental impacts for any project before establishing it. It is required by the Ministry of Environment and the funding agencies such as World Bank.
Environmental Auditing (EA)
A verification and evaluation process for industries to determine whether they conform with environmental laws and regulation. It is required by Ministry of Environment.
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
LCA is a methodology allowing analyzing all environmental burdens (consumption of natural resources, emissions to air, soil and water) of a product or service over its whole life cycle, i.e. production, processing, use and disposal.
Major Hazards Risk Analysis (MHRA)
MHRA is a preventive approach to assess the risk of major accidents having a dangerous impact on health, safety and environment beyond the boundaries of a plant. MHRA identifies scenarios, evaluates the impact on human health and the environment, determines the probabilities of occurrence of an incident and defines preventive or mitigation measures to reduce the residual risk.
Cleaner Production (CP)

Integrated Hazardous Material Management Solution (IHMMS)
IHMMS Is a computerized electronic and integrated system used as a tool for the management and control of hazardous substances
imported and produced in the Country. The system is an electronic model for the integrated and core management of hazardous
materials (chemicals, radioactive, pesticides… etc.), as well as to provide the necessary information in an integrated manner for the
involved decision-makers on the types, locations and quantities of hazardous materials used within the country.
Air Quality Management Solution (AQMS)
This solution is intended to monitor the Air pollution in different areas of a country. It manages to collect Air readings frequently
from different focal points distributed in the country using special sensors and manage these indicators by converting pollutant
concentrations to a uniform scale based on the potential health effects at the measured concentrations, In order to measure the
pollution level. Such Solution enables decision makers to take direct, quick and accurate decisions regarding the safety of Air in
the affected area, and control it spread. The solution has special tools for documenting the changes in Air quality of specific Air
effecting industries or open areas in the country too, determine how air quality is changing over time, and evaluate its trend and
define the common air quality problem (if exists).
Laboratory Information Management Solution (LIMS)
LIMS is designed to improve process and cost efficiency, enhance information access, quality and availability; it deals with most
types of samples. It also supports the follow-up of a sample from the moment it’s received to laboratory until it’s delivered to the
customer. The system provides mechanism to manage and distribute tasks among employees.

Medical Equipment Solution (MES)
MES is a fully computerized system that enables various medical organizations
and centers to manage their medical devices both centrally and remotely in a
decentralized manner to insure the accurate time of procurement and supply
taking into consideration the actual and future needs of multiple localities.
The system ensures the business continuity through the implementation of the
integrated maintenance request system.
E-Vehicle Insurance System (EVIS)
The e-Vehicle Insurance System (EVIS) has been developed by ICTD to enable
the Vehicle insurance to be completed electronically. The System’s management
includes compulsory insurance and supplementary insurance exported
and produced by all insurance companies in the country, The required fees
for a certain Insurance performed by the individual distributed Insurance
companies; is calculated according to the defined rules and regulations of the
country and integrated for control and use in the Central Insurance Company
(Insurance Federation), this action helps the complete, fare, and up-to date
management and prevents the fraud, in addition to providing information
needed for decision-makers and stakeholders in an integrated manner on the
numbers, types and locations of incidents recorded within the state.
Environmental Data Bank Solution (EDBS)
This solution is intended to monitor and evaluate different types of resources
in a country such as: Reservoirs of drinking water, Pumping stations, Domestic
wastewater treatment plants, Industrial wastewater treatment plants, Dams
Water, Sludge, Soil, Fruits & vegetables, Disinfectants, Cosmetics and Air, and
collect frequent readings (Physical parameters, Chemical parameters (Organic &
Non-organic) and Biological parameters) and then evaluate them to ensure there
compliance with the standard country specifications for drinking and treated
domestic and industrial wastewater and any other standard or specification.
The solution has special tools for documenting the changes in water quality
of specific water bodies in the country too, determine how water quality is
changing over time, and evaluate its trend and define the water quality problem
(if exists).
