periods of time the organic part decays and is replaced by minerals.

• i.e. bones form stone.– Fossil localities are where fossils are found.

Archaeological sites-Studied by Archaeologists.– Places of past human activity.

• large settlements with ceremonial centers.• small hunting camps.
