In Spanish, some words have accent marks called tildes.

Tildes tell you what syllable to stress.

Palabras sin Tildes (Words without Accent Marks)

Cómo sabes pronunciar palabras sin tildes?How do you know how to pronounce words without accent marks?

Si la palabra termina con vocal, “n,” o “s,” la penúltima sílaba lleva el acento.

If the word ends in a vowel, “n,” or “s,” the second to last syllable has the stress.

English words that end in –ous change to –oso in Spanish.

Spanish words that end in -oso tend to be adjectives.

In English we can often change a noun into its corresponding adjective

by adding -ous: Advantage/Advantageous

You can often also do this in Spanish with -oso:

Peligro (danger)/ Peligroso (dangerous)

Curious = Curioso

Numerous = Numeroso
