Families and residents can once again feel the wind in
their hair and enjoy the great outdoors in Sarina.
Council has spent over $155,000 improving the parks
and playgrounds in the area.
Parks and Environment portfolio councillor Theresa
Morgan said council understands the importance of
providing plenty of green space and family friendly
facilities.
“By investing in our parks we are providing healthy
facilities for our residents and families to utilise.”
“By providing healthy facilities we are building a healthy
community.”
Council has spent $65,000 replacing the old play
equipment at Koumala Park and installed a new safety
fence and a solid roof.
A new shade structure has been built at Campwin
Beach to provide year round protection. Seven new
picnic tables and 11 bench seats have been installed
at Broad Street for residents to enjoy.
$50,000 has been spent on replacing the old timber
seats at Anzac Park with aluminium ones to ensure
longevity.
Earthly delights
on offerBe amazed at the ground breaking
entertainment on offer at this year’s
Mackay Region Festival of Arts.
In honour of Mackay turning 150 and
the Festival’s 25th anniversary there will
be over 30 events on offer around our
region from July 7 to 22 for everyone to
enjoy.

the awe-inspiring Bobcat Ballet at the
Mackay Showgrounds on Saturday,

Did you know? If you register your pet dog and cat with council before July 31 you will receive an early bird discount. Instead of paying $54 for a de-sexed dog you pay $27. Cats are free.

nurse, a long serving politician and a
comedian were among the list of 10
recognised as part of our Queensland
Day celebrations and our M150
commemorations.
Mayor Deirdre Comerford said it’s
important that we acknowledge and
celebrate our achievements.
“Many people contributed to the
success of this region and it’s wonderful
to look back and recognise those who
were the pioneers of their time.”

Various roads in Koumala, Armstrong
Beach and Sarina have had fl ood
restoration work completed, new road
pavement and bitumen seal. These
roads include Johnson’s Road, Koumala,
Miran Khan Drive, Armstrong Beach,
and Lee Street, Sarina.
