In Poland everyone loves Christmas. It is favourite and most eagerly awaited holiday in the year. This is a unique time when people try to be kind, friendly and generous to one another. They seem to forget all their

problems and just enjoy being together. Christmas are preceded by many days of preparations. Streets are lit by coloured lamps and shops are full of people buying presents. The atmosphere is excitement and

expectation can be felt almost everywhere.

Sanok is located in the south-east of Poland.

Before Christmas we send Christmas postcards to our family and friends.

Before the Christmas Eve we decorate a Christmas Tree by lights and paper stars.

The moments everyone waits for is Christmas Eve. When the first star appears in the sky, people sit at the Christmas table.They do not forget leaving an empty place for unexpected guest. The table is convered with

white tablecloth and hay is spread on it.

Christmas Eve

We share a wafer with our family, friends.

During Christmas Eve we eat many traditional meals like betroot soup or dumplings.

They are one of the most famous polish christmas meals in the world.

Another traditional meal is carp. There are many diffrent ways of preparing this fish.

It can be: fried, with vegetables or in jelly.

After Christma Eve carollers visit houses and sing traditional, polish carols like: W żłobie leży or Chwała na wysokości.

Christmas is a unique time. People are kind, friendly. Families are gathered and houses are full of peace and love. Christmas greetings are also very popular during Christmas

Boxing Day

During Boxing Day we spend time with our family. It is also time of parties.

There are many parties where we spend time with our brothers or sisters.
