Potential Educational Uses of Slide Share

• For Teachers: Embed slide shows containing lecture notes or images relating to a course lecture on personal/course blogs

• For Teachers: Use slides to accompany a podcast lecture

• For Students: Allow them to embed slide shows of their projects, with or without a podcast, on their blogs

Working with Images

• Slide share can highlight maps or illustrations in cultural studies type courses

Other Features

• Slide shows can be downloaded from blogs or from the slide share home site as power point documents

• Embeddable slide shows that are accompanied by podcasts are a simpler alternative to more complex programs like profcast and camtasia

BUT…

• Slide shows are not a panacea for everything or anything

• Same limitations as powerpoint: can lead to pretty boring, mechanistic structures of thought and learning

• Just one tool of many for teachers and students
