What is educational technology?

I think educational technology can be defined as a tool or sets of tools that assist learning through the process of creation, assessment and reflection—with a dash of creativity and collaboration, of course.

Kindergarten technology

• History: taught through story-telling

• Math: manipulation of numbers using shells

• Science: explored through trips to beaches and farms

High school technology

• Television use was limited to history-related classes

• Fewer than 40 computers were accessible only in the school's library for the entire school

College technology

Computers: research, composition, delivery, submission, communication and collaboration among learners and teachers

Various digital text readers and audio players: note-taking and retention

A vivid technology learning experience

Video document and interview elders in the Pacific: Technology becomes an exception that overcomes cultural barriers to sacred knowledge.

A technology I would like to see in my classroom

Kindle ereader is a great tool to motivate and enhance reading comprehension.

Text-to-speech feature for vision-challenged and ESL learners.

My vision of the future classroom

I envision students of all ages learning in outdoor environments, with the use of assistive learning tools. The outside world can become classrooms without walls.

A challenge for teaching

Major challenges that create barriers to access technology include:– Social – Economy– Politics– Environment

Words of wisdom

The ability to convert ideas to things is the secret to outward success.
