Curriculum Vitae: Cecilia Brunetti is a post-Doc at CNR-IVALSA in Sesto Fiorentino (FI). She graduated inChemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at University of Florence, then she got her PhD in Agriculturaland Environmental Sciences. She works on plant responses to abiotic stress, in particular her research isfocused on the role of secondary metabolites in plant-environment interaction. In the latest works, sheinvestigated physiological and biochemical adjustments adopted by plants when exposed to drought andheat stress. She is in the editorial board of the journal Flora. She is author of 34 papers published inscientific journals with impact factor and 3 book chapters.

Abstract:The biosynthesis and emission of biogenicvolatile organic compounds (VOCs) haveimportant roles in plant adaptation to harshenvironments, in addition these compoundsserve as infochemicals in multitrophicinteractions. This lesson will explore the mainvolatile isoprenoids emitted by plants, thebiotic and abiotic stresses inducing theirbiosynthesis, the roles of these secondarymetabolites in plant defence and the analyticaltechniques uesed to monitor and quantifyBVOC emission.
