Not just for obvious reasons, but because in my mind, the

anticipation and planning of a trip: shopping for lighter clothes,

deciding what to wear on the plane, even packing (so one doesn’t

have to unpack), are welcome distractions from the routines and

rigors of a Northeast winter.

Yes, the places we go are lovely, but it is that ritual of the before coupled

with memories of the after that help re-charge our batteries and leave us with lasting impressions

until spring arrives.
