How did you use media technologies in the construction ,

research , planning and evaluation stages?

Evaluation question 3Shaiann Mangan

Planning StageThe first technology that was used in the production stage was Blogger.

During the planning stage blogger was used to make a note of all the previous work – from the AS year and to note down anything we were currently learning – such as the theories from Vernallis , Mulvey and Goodwin.

It was also used to help the group decide on the final song choice. We uploaded videos from

Youtube ( another use of technology) of the potential song choices and in the end we chose from that list.

After that Blogger was then used to document all of the planning – such as ideas for the final videoExplanations of videos that are being used as influence and we also put up schedules for filming

Which allowed myself and the rest of the group to know when ,where and what we were filming.

Planning StageAnother technology that I used was Prezi. I used it to document the skills that I had learnt during

the AS year.

I also used slideshare to present my work. It allowed me to upload a PowerPoint so that it could be viewed on the blog.

Planning Stage

For extra inspiration we looked at the original singer – Estelle and her personal website and Twitter.

This allowed us to get a feel of what we exactly needed to convey in terms of personality and clothing.

Planning StageYouTube was another technology that I used during the planning stage. Throughout the entire planning stage

YouTube was used to find videos for inspiration and used to take screen shots from. Examples of it being used in the blog can be seen below:

I also used another video site – Muzu.tv when analyzing the original video as sometimes YouTube would not allow videos to embed / be used on different website.

Planning StageI also used YouTube to get screen caps by pressing ‘prtsc’ then copying into the blogger post :

I also used Animoto to showcase examples of Mulveys view in a hip hop video. Shots of the blog post can be seen below :

Vimeo was another video website that was used during the production stage. It allowed me to see the previous students videos and gave inspiration on what to do and also what not to do.

Production StageTo actually record the video we used a state if

the art video camera – like the one below:

Production Stage

To save all recorded videos we used two memory cards.

Production Stage

We also used a harddrive to save the work on – so we had an extra back up.

The harddrive was also used to get the recordings onto the mac and allow us to edit.

Production Stage

To capture anything happening behind the scenes we used a digital camera for example :

I personally also relied on my BlackBerry to take photos and videos of the process of filming.

Production Stage

To give our video a more glamour feel we decided to use the spotlight in this particular scene :

Editing Stage

The entire project was edited through Final Cut Pro ( FCP). During the editing many different tools were used to edit the video for example razor blade and markers.

Editing Stage

To document the editing stage on Blogger i took screen recordings and uploaded them.

Editing Stage

I also took screen captures of the process and uploaded to blogger.

Editing Stage

Also during this stage we had to use Handbreak to convert the files so that they could fit onto Blogger as the files were way too large.

Post Editing Stage

I also used the BlackBerry Application called ScreenMuncher. This allowed me to take screen shots of texts and upload them onto blogger. For example here is some audience feedback that was sent as a text and screenmunched:

Post Editing Stage

I used my BlackBerry to capture the audiences response during the cinema visit.

Creation of the Ancillary products

The main program that was used to create my digipak was Adobe Photoshop.

Creation of the Ancillary products

I print screened me creating the products and uploaded the images to the blog.

Creation of the Ancillary products

Before i managed to download Photoshop to my laptop at home i used Paint. Even though it is not as advanced as PS it still allowed me to change colours and move around images on my digipak.

Creation of the Ancillary products

On DaFont.com i found a text that i really liked and though would perfectly suit my ancillary products – Danelle. To be able to use it i had to install it into my own computer and use through PS and Paint.

Creation of the Ancillary products

On the CD housing of my digipak is a kiss mark:

I created this by making the mark myself and scanning it onto a computer. I then played around with the colour and sizing to make it look more professional and perfect.

Q3

I've used Slide Share ( a online PowerPoint sharer) to upload this to blogger.
