Significance at an event held recently in New

Delhi.

• The award was received

by Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable

Energy Shri Anand Kumar.

played in installing about 73 GW renewable

energy capacity in the country.

• Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’

Welfare Shri Radha Mohan Singh has said

that the 160th session of the Food and

Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Council,

currently underway in Rome, approved

India’s proposal to observe an International

Year of Millets in 2023.

• The FAO Council has also approved India’s

membership to the Executive Board of the

United Nations World Food Program for 2020

and 2021.

• केन्द्रीय कृदष और दकसान कल्याण मंत्री श्री राधा

मोहन दसंह ने कहा है दक वतिमान में रोम में चल

रहे खाद्य और कृदष संगठन (FAO) पररषद के 160 वें सत्र ने 2023 में दमलेट के अंतरािष्ट्र ीय वषि को

मनाने के भारत के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दी है।

• FAO पररषद ने 2020 और 2021 के दलए संयुि

राष्ट्र दवश्व खाद्य कायिक्रम के कायिकारी बोडि में

भारत की सदस्यता को भी मंजूरी दे दी है।

• India celebrating 2018 as the National Year of Millets for promoting cultivation and

consumption of these nutri-cereals.

• Millets consists of Jowar, Bajra, Ragi and minor millets together termed as nutri-

the Regional Level Marine Oil Pollution

Response Exercise titled ‘Clean Sea –

2018’ at sea off Port Blair.

• The preparedness of all agencies during the

exercise was conducted under observation of

Inspector General Maneesh V

Pathak, Commander Coast Guard Region,

Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

• Coast Guard ships Viswasth, Vijith, Rajveer,

Rajshri, 4 interceptor boats, and its air assets

Dornier and Chetak helicopters participated in

the exercise.

• भारतीय तट रिक ने पोटि बे्लयर से समुद्र में 'क्लीन

सी-2018' नामक िेत्रीय स्तर समुद्री तेल प्रदूषण

प्रदतदक्रया अभ्यास का आयोजन दकया है।

decision victory over Mexican super-

featherweight Hugo Aguilar in Indio,

• Manuel, 33, became the first transgender male

to fight professionally in the United States.

• Manuel fought in the 2012 US Olympic

trials as a female but a shoulder injury spelled

the end of a bid to make the team for the

London Games after just one bout.

• Months later he began the transition to male,

and after surgery and hormone treatments

waded through the bureaucracy of getting

licensed to fight.
