Say “hi” to Dave!He is a project manager

in an IT company.

Let’s look at his day.

What a beautiful morning!The development team is performing great.

Software will be ready on schedule.

Everything looks fine.

8:00 a.m.

Coffee counter:

9:00 a.m.Board meeting.

– The development is on track! – says Dave with pride.

– We need the software sooner. Cut the deadline in half – replies the board.

(There’s a foul word in Dave’s head, but he keeps it to himself.)

Coffee counter:

10:00 a.m.Development team meeting.

– We need the software sooner – says Dave.

– Impossible to do – replies the development team.

(There’s a foul word in Dave’s head, but he keeps it to himself.)

Dave wants to negotiate deadlines but the board has no time.

11:00 a.m.

NOON

Back at Dave’s desk.

50 new emails

and 30 unanswered calls.

Coffee counter:

1:00 p.m.

Development team has a surprise for Dave.-There’s a problem. We need two - three weeks to overpass it. We won’t meet the deadline.

2:00 p.m.

Coffee counter:Coffee counter:

70 new e-mails and 60 unanswered calls.

3:00 p.m.

Coffee counter:

– We need the software sooner. – says the board.

Finally the board has time to see Dave.

Coffee counter:

4:00 p.m.

100 new emails and 80 unanswered calls.Development team has another surprise for Dave.Board wants to meet too. Again there’s a change in plans.

5:00 p.m.

Coffee machine breaks down...

6:00 p.m.

Dave shares the foul word with everyone in the office

and heads home.
