determined by the Committee.

EXTRAORDINARY EVENTS
FOURSOMES
Players play as partners and use one (1) ball. Partners
play alternately from the tee and thereafter play the ball
alternately during the play of each hole until completion

selects the best tee shot at each hole. This becomes the
chosen position to play from. The other partners retrieve
their balls and in turn PLACED on the fairway or in the rough
within one club length of the selected position and play
their second shots. The procedure of selecting the best
position continues until a ball is holed. When on the green,
balls are placed on the selected spot. In the interest of

than marked.

11. No more than two (2) balls may be played in practice
on the course.
12. If you have a complaint, inform the Club Secretary or
Captain in writing, who will pass it on to the Committee
concerned.
13. Members should not nominate or second any person for
membership of the Club unless thoroughly satisfied that
such nominee is in every way worthy.
14. Professionals may only compete in OPEN events.
15. 7 Day Playing Members have the right of the course on
Saturdays until completion of competition.
MATCH COMMITTEE
Any competitor desiring to enter a protest in connection
with a match or competition shall do so in writing addressed
to the Club Secretary and shall deposit same in the box
with cards of play. The Secretary shall, upon receipt of
such protest, convene at the earliest possible opportunity a
meeting of the Match Committee, which shall consider such
protest and whose decision shall be final. Protests must be
entered immediately on completion of the match
or competition.

GOLF ETIQUETTE
1. The standard of a Golf Club may be judged by the
etiquette of its Members. It is the duty of every Member
to preserve the reputation of the Club by:
(a) Maintaining the spirit of good fellowship between
himself and every other Member.
(b) Observing the best traditions of the game when
visiting other clubs
(c) Observing the rules of proper attire
2. In the interests of all, play should without delay.
3. Players must keep their place on the course.
4. No player should play until the party ahead is out
of range.
5. No one should move, talk or stand close to or directly
behind the ball or hole when a player is addressing the
ball or making a stroke.
6. Avoid as far as possible walking or standing near
the hole.
7. When leaving bunkers, think of others. Smooth out your
foot marks, leave the rake in the centre of the bunker
aligned in the direction of play.
8. When the result of the hole has been determined
players should immediately leave the green.
32
9. Through the green a player should ensure that any
turf cut or displaced by him is replaced at once and
pressed down. After players have holed out any
damage to the green made by the ball or the player
should be carefully repaired.
10. Competition players have precedence over other
players at all times.
“IS THE GROUP IN FRONT OUT OF SIGHT?”
SLOW PLAY
The regularly recurring problem of “SLOW PLAY” is
discussed consistently amongst Members. Almost every
player - Member of the Club has at some time expressed
concern about the effects of slow play on their enjoyment
of the game. The following ten suggestions should be of
assistance in overcoming the problem.
The most fundamental rule is to be ready to play. Walk
directly to or adjacent to your ball at all times and wait there
for the player farthest from the hole, or the player able to
proceed safely, to play his shot. While you wait assess
your own shot.
We ask you all to get into the habit of playing this way.
Get your partners to play this way and if you see anybody
NOT playing this way, you will know why you are having
a slow round.
1. Select a club and ball whilst other players are having
their tee shots
2. Always mark the card whilst waiting your turn at the tee.
33
3. Walk directly to your ball or adjacent to your ball, select
your club and be ready to play when your turn.
4. It is agreed that each player has his own preference in
this matter, but practice swings should be limited to
a minimum.
5. If, after a reasonable period, it is apparent that you are
holding up play, call the next group through.
6. If called ahead as in (5) but immediately afterwards the
team ahead locates their ball and it is evident that play
will proceed faster if they continue, you should signal
them to go ahead.
Note: The discretion is in the hands of the team called
through and not the players who were lost.
7. On reaching the green and your ball, study the line of
your putt immediately. When it is your turn to putt, try
whenever possible, to putt right out. Marking the ball is
sometimes necessary, but not always, and should
be avoided.
8. Wherever possible, a player should have assessed his
own putt for direction and speed whilst other players are
putting, provided in doing so, no interference is caused
to the player putting.
9. The player nearest the hole should attend the flag and
then pass to the first player to hole out, then appraise his
own putt.
10. Always place your buggy adjacent to the approach to
the next tee. Where possible, and practicable, keep
your buggy off the tees and out of play.
34
MARKING THE CARD
Each competitor is responsible for making sure their correct
handicap and Membership number are on their card. The
competitor is responsible for the correct recording of shots
taken on each hole. The Committee is responsible for the
addition of scores and the application of the handicap
recorded on the card.
PRACTICE GROUND
The area set aside for practice is bounded by the right-hand
side of the rough on the 5th and 7th holes and the area
surrounding the practice bunker and chipping green as
defined by orange boundary stakes and lines. Any golf balls
exceeding these bounds must be retrieved immediately so
that they do not interfere with play on the course. On non-
competition days and with the approval of the professional
the 11th fairway may also be used from the area at and
adjacent to the practice tees.
