FINANCIALHIGHLIGHTS
Maintaining steady growth by developing core businesses
and investing in expansion
Lottes history of sure and steady growth results from making wise but bold investments in its core and related
businesses, based on a strategy of quality-oriented management. In 2011, the company posted record-high
sales of KRW 73 trillion, over 19% higher than the year before. Its core businesses recorded similar stable rates
of growth in spite of unstable market conditions around the world, such as the financial crisis in the euro zone.
Its overseas operations have grown particularly rapidly, ballooning by an astounding 109% in each of the past
three years. As a result, the company is quickly evolving into Global Lotte, advancing its core business divi-
sions, such as retail, petrochemicals, foods, and tourism, into China, Russia, Vietnam, India, and Indonesia. It is
also seeking to enter other markets.

Lotte Shopping continued its record of solid growth, with
operating profit exceeding KRW 1 trillion. This success was
due to three factors: the continuous opening of new stores
in Korea, the strengthening of its overseas operations; and
the development of new businesses by opening outlets and
online malls.
Lotte Confectionery enjoyed satisfactory results in 2011,
with sales and operating profit growing by 7.8% and 6.1%,
respectively, over the year. This was accomplished in spite of
difficult management conditions, including rising prices for
raw materials. The company also continued with its strategy
of aggressive overseas expansion.

In 2011, KP Chemical achieved record-high business results
for the third consecutive year. This success was mainly due
to a modest recovery in the global economy and increased
demand from China. The company will continue to grow by
adding new businesses and growth engines to its base,
both at home and abroad.
Honam Petrochemical posted its best-ever results again in
2011, due to stronger-than-expected demand and produc-
tion problems among its competitors. In 2012, the company
will concentrate on strengthening its functional materials
and new growth businesses, while retaining its competitive-
ness in the field of basic petrochemical products.

foods, manufacturing, and the plastic recycling oil
business (turning used plastic products into oil for
recycling). The core competitive edge of Lotte Lo-
gistics lies in the fact that it has over 100 logistics
centers, including ones in Osan and Gwangmyeong,
more knowhow about efficient transportation
within Korea than any other company, and the most
advanced IT technology. Lotte Logistics has even
established a local corporation in China, and will
use this to help it ac tively explore further overseas
opportunities. Additionally, with the expansion of
its 3PL and overseas businesses, as well as the de -
velopment of new businesses, Lotte Logistics will
make every effort to grow into a global logistics
provider.
MYBISince it was founded in September 2000, Mybi has
provided payment tools like transportation cards
that are convenient and easily accessible to people
throughout Korea through constant technological
development and efforts aimed to raise customer
satisfaction. With a technological edge over its com-
petition and unrivaled expertise in the field of smart
cards, Mybi has developed electronic payment sys-
tems concerning traffic, distribution, the Internet,
and public convenience facilities. At the same time it
has expanded its services regarding installation,
maintenance, and operation of those systems. To-
day, it provides exclusive services for 10 metropolitan
cities/provinces in Korea.
EB CARDEB Card uses radio-frequency (RF) smart card tech-
nologies to create automated bus fare payment sys-
tems that are both speedy and convenient. In 2010,
it became part of the Lotte Group. It then launched
a brand called CashBee, which combines trans-
portation and retail settlements and membership
functions. Its areas of operations include Seoul,
Gyeonggi-do, Incheon, Chungcheongnam-do, Gang-
won-do, Busan, and Gyeongsangnam-do. The com-
pany is also continuously increasing its customer
base in the retail settlement area, including conve-
nience stores, restaurants, and coffee shops.
LOTTE PS NETAfter its establishment in 2000, Lotte PS Net quickly
became a leader in the banking operations automa-
tion industry, introducing settlement automation
systems in convenience stores for the first time in
Korea. In 2008, it was acquired by the Lotte Group,
and began running all the Lotte ATMs at Lotte retail
centers nation-wide in partnership with Korean
banks and many of the countrys financial institu-
tions. It is also operating automated settlement sys-
tems at Lotte Mart stores, bus terminals nationwide,
and highway rest stops. Lotte PS Net is working hard
to develop the Lotte ATM so that it is tied in with
every Korean bank and financial institution, accom-
modating both financial agencies and individual
customers through continuous technological devel-
opment and effective management of its fee-charg-
ing system.
LOTTE R&D CENTERThe Lotte R&D Center, founded in 1983, is in charge
of the research and development activities for all of
Lottes food companies, and carries out safety control
for all products purchased by Lottes retail companies.
Over 200 trained professionalsall of whom put
quality firstare busy working on developing the
highest quality products. The Lotte R&D Center also
runs a safety center for the welfare and comfort of its
customers, while thoroughly managing the safety of
processed food products manufactured by Lotte and
products distributed by Lotte. Researchers are further
focusing their efforts on nurturing strategic brands
such as Xylitol (chewing gum), Dream Cacao (choco-
from an industrial accident or overdue wages; f
the latter it grants equipment and materials to reh
bilitation centers so that they have the necessa
tools to help those who need it most. In the futu
the Lotte Welfare Foundation will focus its supp
on the disabled and children based on the princip
of workfare, which helps others help themselves.
LOTTE SAMDONG FOUNDATION
The Lotte Samdong Foundation was founded in Dcember 2009 with the purpose of helping out tho
in society who need it most. The foundation h
carried out many different projects to support u
derprivileged people in Ulsan, such as providi
school uniforms for middle and high school st
dents from low-income families, supporting tee
age heads of households, offering free medi
treatment for senior citizens in Ulju, and deliveri
Childrens Day gifts for underprivileged kids in chi
care facilities in Ulsan. The Lotte Samdong Found
tion will continue to carry out various social welfa
projects, support social welfare facilities and tho
who need help the most, while also working
welfare projects for local residents.
LOTTE GIANTSBased in Busan, the Lotte Giants are one of t
original franchises of the Korean Baseball Organiz
tion. Since 1982, the team has made it to the fin
series four times and won twice, due in large p
to its strong pitching and reliable hitters. In 201
