-Lack of political and security stability in the neighboring countries.
-due to the political and security stability in Jordan -Increasing the proportion of
immigration to Jordan from these countries.
-Resulting in economic, political and social negative effects summoned by Jordanian
government to develop policies to deal with the immigration file.
-It originated partnership with the European Union \ Euro-Mediterranean migration
project- to reach a correct figure for the number of migrants and thus the development
of strategies and policies based on accurate figures.
-Jordanian government entrusted the task of collecting data on foreign immigrants to
Department of Statistics.
Preface
- The Jordanian government conducts large amendments to the residence and the law
of foreign affairs and this project was raised to the Council of parliament and the
work will be done immediately after the approval of the official authorities.
-The Jordanian government is working to improve the quality of technical
equipment used at border posts in order to prevent illegal immigration.
-and it has also worked on improving workers capabilities at borders.
-with the increase in immigration to the Kingdom, increased the interest in the
subject of human rights and prevent human trafficking.
-The Jordanian government is cooperating largely with the European Union in all
topics of migration and had a prominent role in the Euromed Phase III project; and
this cooperation will continue in the fourth phase of the Euromed project.
-The Jordanian government signed a joint political declaration with EU interior
ministers concerning the movement and migration and security partnership.
Migrations to Jordan
•The first migration of the Palestinians in 1948; (506000) Palestinians
migrated to Jordan
•The second migration of the Palestinians in 1967; (350000)
Palestinians migrated to Jordan
So we have more than (2) millions Palestinian refugees.
•Lebanese immigration came in 1974;
•First Iraqi immigration to Jordan after Iraq's occupation of Kuwait in
1990
•Second Iraqi immigration to Jordan after USA entry to Iraq in 2003
So we have more than (400) thousand Iraqi refugees.
•The Syrians migration to Jordan after the internal crisis in their country,
which began in 2011 and continues to react till now.
So we have more than (1.4) million Syrian refugees.
•Libyan crisis, the advent of patients for treatment in Jordan in 2011
•Yemenis crisis, the advent of patients for treatment in Jordan in 2015
Due to such huge number of
immigrants Jordan suffers hardly in
economic ,infrastructure ,natural
resources, social aspects.
Moreover , Jordan is one of four
poorest countries in water resources.
Expatriate workers in Jordan
• There's around (600) thousand of Egyptians working
in Jordan in different fields.
• There's (70) thousand of Asian (Bengal, Sri Lanka,
India and Pakistan) are working in Jordan Especially
in Factories and Agricultural field, and as home
workers.
• We have (80) thousand from other countries working
in several sectors in Jordan.
