Cutting Edge or Cut Loose? Teresa Mullin LSIS RDF, 2011

• Is technology in the workplace justified or is it ‘oversold and underused’ (Cuban, 2001)

• Research findings show:1. Apprentices acknowledge

e-learning and e-assessment can help ‘speed up’ their course

2. E-learning can provide expansive learning opportunities but requires learners to ‘show and interest’ and engage.

3. Hard to balance e-learning and work responsibilities at work

4. E-learning can build bridges between experienced and novice staff

5. Communities of practice can both negative and positive- i.e.facebook

6. E-learning occurs best when it is accessible and task-driven.

7. Need for tutor support
