PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts

of Your faithful and kindle in us

the fire of Your Love. Send forth your spirit and

we shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

O God, who by the light of the

Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant

that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His

consolations. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen

corazones de tus hijos con la luz del Espíritu Santo;

THE HISTORY OF THE CURSILLO MOVEMENT

The Cursillo originated in 1979 in Majorca Spain, under the direction of Bishop Juan de Hervas, after several years of planning had been interrupted by World War IL Cursillo spread rapidly throughout Spain and then to Austria, Germany, Belgium, France and Italy. From Europe, it was taken to Colombia and spread to other South and Central American countries. In 1957, due to the initiative of two Spanish air cadets training in Texas, Cursillo came to the United States. Originally, Cursillo Weekends were held for men only, and in Spanish. It was not long, however, before Cursillo Weekends were conducted in the local language and included women. It was clear that men wanted to share the joy of Cursillo with women. The first Cursillo Weekend in California was held in Stockton. The first English language Cursillo Weekend in California was held in San Francisco in 1962. The first non-Roman Catholic to "make" a Cursillo Weekend in the San Francisco area was Fr. David Crump of St. Jude's Episcopal Church, Cupertino, in 1964. In various places around the country, Cursillo Weekends are held under the sponsorship of the Roman Catholic AND Episcopal churches. Other denominations have adopted similar programs, such as the Methodists' "Walk to Emmaus." "New Beginnings," "Happening," "Vocare" are weekends for young people patterned after Cursillo. The "Kairos" prison ministry is also based on the Cursillo model.

In October1972, with the approval of the Roman Catholic Archbishop, Timothy Manning, and the Episcopal Bishop, Eric Bloy, the first Episcopal Cursillo Weekend was held in Los Angeles. In August 1976, with the assistance of the Los Angeles Episcopal Diocese and the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego, the first Episcopal Cursillo Weekends were held at Palomar College in San Marcos. Our first Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Robert Woltersdorff "made" his Cursillo Weekend. He, Bishop Brinkley Morton, Rt. Rev. Gethin Hughes and, our current Bishop, the Rt. Rev. James R. Mathes has been whole hearted supporters of the Cursillo movement. The Secretariat of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego is the governing body of Cursillo in San Diego. It consists of four clergy (appointed for two-year terms by the Bishop) and ten lay persons (nine elected by the community for three year terms and one selected by the Hispanic Cursillo community). The bishop selects one of the clergy members to be Diocesan Spiritual Advisor. In addition to the Spiritual Advisor, Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer; the Secretariat has committees concerned with Servant Community, Pre-Cursillo, Fourth Day, Ultreyas, Communications and Finance, and Facilities and Supplies. The "Forward" is the San Diego Cursillo community newsletter. Your Cursillo Weekend has been paid for by Cursillistas who have made previous Cursillo Weekends. Those who work on the Team pay their own expenses on the Weekend. They give joyfully of their time, talent, treasure, and prayers.

El Sermón

On Sundays and other Major Feasts there follows,

all standing

The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:

La Gran Plegaria Eucarística Plegaria Eucarística A

El pueblo permanece de pie. El Celebrante, sea obispo o sacerdote,

de cara al pueblo, canta o dice:

El Señor sea con ustedes. Pueblo Y con tu espíritu. Celebrante Elevemos los corazones. Pueblo Los elevamos al Señor. Celebrante Demos gracias a Dios nuestro Señor. Pueblo Es justo darle gracias y alabanza.

Celebrant and People

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

The people stand or kneel.

Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.

He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world.

On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Celebrant and People

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Celebrante y Pueblo:

Celebrante y Pueblo:

Cristo ha muerto. Cristo ha resucitado.

Cristo volverá.

The Celebrant continues

We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts.

Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son, the holy food and drink of new and unending life in him.

Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.

All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ. By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever. AMEN.

And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,

People and Celebrant

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

[Alleluia.] Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us; Therefore let us keep the feast. [Alleluia.]

In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life.

On the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Therefore, according to his command, O Father,

Celebrant and People

We remember his death, We proclaim his resurrection, We await his coming in glory;

The Celebrant continues

And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine. We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with [ ___________ and] all your saints, we may enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation.

Celebrante y Pueblo:

Recordamos su muerte, Proclamamos su resurrección, Esperamos su venida en gloria;

By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever. AMEN.

And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,

Eucharistic Prayer C

In this prayer, the lines in italics are spoken by the People.

The Celebrant, whether bishop or priest, faces them and sings or says

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give him thanks and praise.

Then, facing the Holy Table, the Celebrant proceeds

God of all power, Ruler of the Universe, you are worthy of glory and praise. Glory to you for ever and ever.

At your command all things came to be: the vast expanse of interstellar space, galaxies, suns, the planets in their courses, and this fragile earth, our island home. By your will they were created and have their being.

From the primal elements you brought forth the human race, and blessed us with memory, reason, and skill. You made us the rulers of creation. But we turned against you, and betrayed your trust; and we turned against one another.

dice:

El Señor sea con ustedes. Y con tu espíritu. Elevemos los corazones. Los elevamos al Señor. Demos gracias a Dios nuestro Señor.

Have mercy, Lord, for we are sinners in your sight.

Again and again, you called us to return. Through prophets and sages you revealed your righteous Law. And in the fullness of time you sent your only Son, born of a woman, to fulfill your Law, to open for us the way of freedom and peace. By his blood, he reconciled us.

By his wounds, we are healed.

And therefore we praise you, joining with the heavenly chorus, with prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and with all those in every generation who have looked to you in hope, to proclaim with them your glory, in their unending hymn:

Celebrant and People

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

The Celebrant continues

And so, Father, we who have been redeemed by him, and made a new people by water and the Spirit, now bring before you these gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.

On the night he was betrayed he took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his friends, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper, he took the cup of wine, gave thanks, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Remembering now his work of redemption, and offering to you this sacrifice of thanksgiving, We celebrate his death and resurrection,

as we await the day of his coming.

Lord God of our Fathers; God of Abraham & Sarah, Isaac & Rebecca, Jacob & Rachel; God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ: Open our eyes to see your hand at work in the world about us. Deliver us from the presumption of coming to this Table for solace only, and not for strength; for pardon only, and not for renewal. Let the grace of this Holy Communion make us one body, one spirit in Christ, that we may worthily serve the world in his name. Risen Lord, be known to us

in the breaking of the Bread.

Accept these prayers and praises, Father, through Jesus Christ our great High Priest, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, your Church gives honor, glory, and worship, from generation to generation. AMEN.

And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,

Then, the Celebrant proceeds

Señor resucitado, muéstrate a nosotros

AMEN.

de cara al pueblo, canta o dice:

It is truly right to glorify you, Father, and to give you thanks; for you alone are God, living and true, dwelling in light inaccessible from before time and for ever.

Fountain of life and source of all goodness, you made all things and fill them with your blessing; you created them to rejoice in the splendor of your radiance.

Countless throngs of angels stand before you to serve you night and day; and, beholding the glory of your presence, they offer you unceasing praise. Joining with them, and giving voice to every creature under heaven, we acclaim you, and glorify your Name, as we sing (say),

Celebrant and People

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

The people stand or kneel.

We acclaim you, holy Lord, glorious in power. Your mighty works reveal your wisdom and love. You formed us in your own image, giving the whole world into our care, so that, in obedience to you, our Creator, we might rule and serve all your creatures. When our disobedience took us far from you, you did not abandon us to the power of death. In your mercy you came to our help, so that in seeking you we might find you. Again and again you called us into covenant with you, and through the prophets you taught us to hope for salvation.

Father, you loved the world so much that in the fullness of time you sent your only Son to be our Savior. Incarnate by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, he lived as one of us, yet without sin. To the poor he proclaimed the good news of salvation; to prisoners, freedom; to the sorrowful, joy.

To fulfill your purpose he gave himself up to death; and, rising from the grave, destroyed death, and made the whole creation new.

And, that we might live no longer for ourselves, but for him who died and rose for us, he sent the Holy Spirit, his own first gift for those who believe, to complete his work in the world, and to bring to fulfillment the sanctification of all.

When the hour had come for him to be glorified by you, his heavenly Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end; at supper with them he took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you. This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Father, we now celebrate this memorial of our redemption. Recalling Christ’s death and his descent among the dead, proclaiming his resurrection and ascension to your right hand, awaiting his coming in glory; and offering to you, from the gifts you have given us, this bread and this cup, we praise you and we bless you.

Celebrant and People

We praise you, we bless you, we give thanks to you, and we pray to you, Lord our God. Lord, we pray that in your goodness and mercy your Holy Spirit may descend upon us, and upon these gifts, sanctifying them and showing them to be holy gifts for your holy people, the bread of life and the cup of salvation, the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ.

Grant that all who share this bread and cup may become one body and one spirit, a living sacrifice in Christ, to the praise of your Name.

to the honor and glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Celebrant concludes with an absolution or a suitable Collect.

The Collect at the Prayers

For the concluding Collect, the Celebrant selects 1 Lord, hear the prayers of thy people; and what we have asked faithfully, grant that we may obtain effectually, to the glory of thy

Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 2 Heavenly Father, you have promised to hear what we ask in the Name of your Son: Accept and fulfill our petitions, we pray, not as we ask in our ignorance, nor as we deserve in our sinfulness, but as you know and love us in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 3 Almighty and eternal God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth: Mercifully accept the prayers of your people, and strengthen us to do your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 4 Almighty God, to whom our needs are known before we ask, help us to ask only what accords with your will; and those good things which we dare not, or in our blindness cannot ask, grant us for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

5 O Lord our God, accept the fervent prayers of your people; in the multitude of your mercies, look with compassion upon us and all who turn to you for help; for you are gracious, O lover of souls, and to you we give glory, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen. 6 Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles, “Peace I give to you; my own peace I leave with you:” Regard not our sins, but the faith of your Church, and give to us the peace and unity of that heavenly City, where with the Father and the Holy Spirit, you live and reign, now and for ever. Amen. 7 Hasten, O Father, the coming of thy kingdom; and grant that we thy

servants, who now live by faith, may with joy behold thy Son at his coming in glorious majesty; even Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen. 8 Almighty God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth: Grant that in our earthly pilgrimage we may always be supported by this fellowship of love and prayer, and know ourselves to be surrounded by their witness to your power and mercy. We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ, in whom all our intercessions are acceptable through the Spirit, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

ABOVE ALL Above all powers, above all kings, Above all nature and all created things, Above all wisdom and all the ways of man You were there before the world began. Above all kingdoms, above all thrones, Above all wonders the world has ever known, Above all wealth and treasures of the Earth, There's no way to measure what you're worth. Chorus: Crucified, laid behind a stone.

You lived to die, rejected and alone, Like a rose, trampled on the ground,

You took the fall, and thought of me, above all. (repeat 1st verse, then chorus) Like a rose, trampled on the ground, You took the fall, and thought of me, above all.

AMAZING GRACE

by John Newton (John P. Reese, stanza 5) 1. Amazing grace! how sweet the sound! That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see. 2. 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear, The hour I first believed. 3. The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures He will my shield and portion be, As long as life endures. 4. Thro' many dangers, toils and snares I have already come. 'Tis grace that brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. 5. When we've been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We've no less days to sing God's praise, Than when we first begun. 6. Praise God....

BE MY BODY by Marcus Hall

1. Be my body in the world, In my work you now must share; Even greater works than I did you shall do. By the power of the Spirit make disciples everywhere And I promise I shall always be with you. 2. Preach the Gospel to the poor, To the captives bring release, Tell the blind their opened eyes are meant to see. That the favor of the Father through the Spirit is their peace, And believing in the Son shall make them free. 3. He who hungers, feed with bread, He who thirsts, give water pure, Clothe the naked, lodge the stranger at your door. Visit pris'ners and the sick, say the Father's love is sure; To the least of these, my brothers give you more. 4. Thus my prayer will be fulfilled, And then all the world shall see That the Father is in me, and I in you. As He sent His Son to serve, so a servant body be, Giving glory now to Him in all you do. Repeat verse 1.

BE NOT AFRAID 1. You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst. You shall wander far in safety though you do not know the way. You shall speak your words to foreign men and they will understand. You shall see the face of God and live. Chorus: Be not afraid. I go before you always.

Come follow Me, and I will give you rest. 2. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown. If you walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed. If you stand before the pow'r of hell and death is at your side, Know that I am with you through it all. 3. Blessed are your poor, for the Kingdom shall be theirs. Blest are you that weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh. With cords that cannot be broken. Bind us together Lord, bind us together;

Bind us together with love. 1. There is only one God; There is only one King: There is only one Body; That is why we can sing. 2. Made for the glory of God; Purchased by His precious Son; Born with the right to be clean; For Jesus the victry has won. 3. We are the fam'ly of God; We are the promise divine; We are God's chosen desire; We are the glorious new wine. 4. BLESSED ASSURANCE 1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh what a foretaste of glory divine. Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. Chorus:

This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long.

This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long. 2. Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst into sight. Angels descending bring from above, Echoes of mercy, whispers of love. 3. Perfect submission, all is at rest, I, in my Savior, am happy and blest, Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

COME AND SEE Words and Music by the men of

Episcopal Cursillo #45, San Diego, CA. Chorus: Come and see. Come and see.

We have found the Messiah. It is He, come to be.

Come let us worship the King. Come let us worship the King. 1. Peter my brother, please listen to me. Drop what you're doing and follow. Come quickly my brother, I've found Him we seek. The Savior our hope for tomorrow. 2. There at a well stood a woman alone. Searching for life's deeper meaning. Jesus reached out, revealed her whole life, And offered the well-spring unending. She said.... 3. After His death, they all turned away. Mary stood weeping and broken. Then an angel appeared saying "It's all true, All of the words He has spoken!" She cried...

FEAR NOT, FOR I HAVE REDEEMED YOU Chorus: Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by name. I have called you by name;

You are mine. 1. When you pass through the waters I will be with you; And the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire You will not be burned, The flames shall not consume you. 2. Because you are precious and I love you, You whom I formed for my glory, You whom I called by my name, I will gather together. 3. You are my witnesses, I have chosen you. That you may know and believe Me. You are my servants for the world to see. I am the Lord, I'm among you. 4. It's time now to lay aside the former things; A new day has dawned, do you see it? I'm making a way in the wilderness, And rivers to flow in the desert. 5. The rivers that flow in the desert Give drink to my chosen people. To quench their thirst and to strengthen them, That they might show forth my praise.

FOR THOSE TEARS I DIED [COME TO THE WATER]

1. You said you'd come and share all my sorrows. You said you'd be there for all my tomorrows. I came so close to sending you away, But just like you promised, you came in to stay, I just had to pray. Chorus:

And Jesus said, "Come to the water. Stand by my side.

I know you are thirsty, you won't be denied. I felt every teardrop when in darkness you cried,

And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died." 2. Your goodness is so great I can't understand. But, dear Lord, I know that all this was planned. I know you're here now, and always will be. Your love burst my chains, and in you I'm free. But, Jesus, why me? 3. Jesus, I give you my heart and my soul. I know that without you I'll never be whole. Savior, you opened all the right doors. And I thank you and praise you from earth's humble shores. Take me, I'm yours.

GOD AND MAN AT TABLE ARE SAT DOWN

1. O welcome all you noble saints of old, As now before your very eyes unfold, The wonders all so long ago foretold. God and man at table are sat down. God and man at table are sat down.

2. Elders, martyrs, all are falling down, And prophets, patriarchs are gath'ring round, What angels longed to see now man has found. God and man at table are sat down. God and man at table are sat down.

3. Who is this who spreads the vict'ry feast, Who is this who makes our warring cease? Jesus, Risen Savior, Prince of Peace. God and man at table are sat down. God and man at table are sat down.

4. Beggars, lame, and harlots also here, Repentant publicans are drawing near, Wayward ones come home without a fear. God and man at table are sat down. God and man at table are sat down.

5. Worship in the presence of the Lord, With joyful songs and hearts of one accord, And let our Host at table be adored. God and man at table are sat down. God and man at table are sat down.

6. When at last this earth shall pass away, When Jesus and His bride are one to stay, The feast of love is just begun that day. God and man at table are sat down. God and man at table are sat down.

HERE I AM, LORD by Dan Schutte

1. I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save. I, who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send? CHORUS: Here I am Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. 2. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people's pain. I have wept for love of them; They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send? 3. I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them, My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide Till their hearts be satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send?

HOW GREAT THOU ART Chorus: Then sings my soul, my Savior, God to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art! 1. O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. 2. When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze. 3. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. 4. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, "My God, how great thou art!"

HYMN OF GLORY

Chorus: Glory, Hallelujah! Glory Hallelujah! 1. Give thanks to our God and let Him be praised; With sanctified hearts and hands that are raised; Come join a song of praise to our God. 2. His Word ever true, the Son of His love; Sing men of earth to the heavens above; Honor and glory belong to our God. 3. Worthy the Lamb who was slain for our sins; He laid down His life, He rose up again; To us He gives unending life. 4. Holy, Holy, the Lord God Almighty; Who was, who is, and who is to come; In glory come, Lord Jesus, come.

I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE By Suzanne Toolan

1. I am the bread of life; They who comes to Me shall not hunger; They who believe in me shall not thirst; No one can come to Me unless the Father draw them. Refrain: And I will raise them up, And I will raise them up; And I will raise them up on the last day. 2. The bread that I will give Is my flesh for the life of the world; And they who eat of this bread; they shall live forever; they shall live forever. 3. Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man; And drink of His blood; You shall not have life within you. You shall not have life within you. 4. I am the resurrection, I am the life; they who believe in me, Even if they die, they shall live forever. 5. Yes, Lord I believe That You are the Christ; The Son of God, who has come into the world.

I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD by Jim Strathdee

(in response to a Christmas poem by Howard Thurman) Refrain: I am the light of the world!

You people come and follow me. If you follow and love,

You'll learn the mystery, Of what you were meant to do and be. 1. When the song of the angels is stilled; When the star in the sky is gone; When the kings and shepherds Have found their way home; The work of Christmas is begun. 2. To find the lost and lonely man; To heal his broken soul with love; To feed the hungry children With warmth and good food; To feel the earth below, the sky above! 3. To free the prisoner from his chains, To make the powerful care, To rebuild the nations With strength and good will, To call a man your brother ev'rywhere! 4. To bring hope to ev'ry task you do; To dance at a baby's new birth; To make music in An old man's heart; To sing to the colors of the earth.

I AM THE RESURRECTION Chorus: I am the resurrection and the life; They who believes in Me will never die. I am the resurrection and the life; They who believes in Me will live a new life. 1. I have come to bring the truth; I have come to give you life; If you believe, then you shall live. 2. In My Word, all men shall come to know; It is love that makes the Spirit grow; If you believe, then you shall live. 3. Keep in mind the things that I have said; Remember Me in the breaking of the bread; If you believe, then you shall live.

I SAW THE LIGHT Hank Williams

I wandered so aimless, life filled with sin I wouldn't let my dear Savior in Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night Praise the Lord! I saw the light!

Chorus: I saw the light, I saw the light No more in darkness, No more in night

Now I'm so happy, No sorrow in sight Praise the Lord! I saw the light!

Just like a blind man I wandered along Worries and fears I claimed for my own Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight Praise the Lord! I saw the light!

I was a fool to wander and stray Straight is the gate and narrow the way Now I have traded the wrong for the right Praise the Lord! I saw the light!

I'LL FLY AWAY

I'll fly away, O glory, I'll fly away When I die, hallelujah, by and by, I'll fly away.

Some glad morning when this life is o'er, I'll fly away To a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away

When the shadows of this life have grown, I'll fly away Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I'll fly away

Just a few more weary days and then, I'll fly away To a land where joys shall never end, I'll fly away

I WANT TO WALK AS A CHILD OF THE LIGHT 1. I want to walk as a child of the light, I want to follow Jesus. God set the stars to give light to the world, The Star of my life is Jesus. CHORUS:

In Him there is no darkness at all, The night and the day are both alike;

The Lamb is the light of the city of God, Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus. 2. I want to see the brightness of God, I want to look at Jesus. Clear sun of righteousness, shine on my path, And show me the way to the Father. 3. I'm looking for the coming of Christ, I want to follow Jesus. ISAIAH 12: 3-6 THE FIRST SONG OF ISAIAH BCP/ Jack Noble White

Refrain:

Surely it is God you save me; I will trust in him and not be afraid.

For the Lord is my strong-hold and my sure de-fense, And he will be my Savior. Therefore you shall draw water with rejoicing From the springs of salvation. And on that day you shall say, give thanks to the Lord, And call upon his Name; Refrain: Make his deeds known among the peoples; See that they remember that his Name is exalted. Sing the praises of the Lord, For he has done great things, And this is known in all the world. Refrain: Cry aloud in habitants of Zion, Ring out your joy, For the great one in the midst of you Is the Holy One of Israel. Refrain:

JESUS MY LORD John Fischer

Refrain:

Have you seen Jesus my Lord? He's here in plain view.

Take a look, open your eyes, He'll show love to you. 1. Have you ever looked at the sunset, With the sky mellowin' red, And the clouds suspended like feathers? Then I say... you've seen Jesus, my Lord. 2. Have you ever stood at the ocean With white foam at your feet, Felt the endless thunderin' motion? Then I say... you've seen Jesus, my Lord. 3. Have you ever looked at the cross, With a man hangin' in pain, And the look of love in His eyes? Then I say... you've seen Jesus my Lord. 4. Have you ever stood in the family With the Lord there in your midst, Seen the face of Christ on each other? Then I say... you've seen Jesus, my Lord.

JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE Traditional

Chorus:

Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it Jesus, is my plea;

Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be. 1. I am weak but Thou art strong; Jesus keep me from all wrong. I'll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee. 2. Through this world of toils and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares? Only Thee, dear Lord, only Thee. 3. When this troubled life is o'er, Time for me will be no more. Then guide me gently, safely on, To Thy shore, dear Lord, to Thy shore.

KYRIE ELEISON 1. Look around you, can you see? Times are troubled, people grieve. See the violence, feel the hardness; All My people, weep with me. Kyrie eleison,

Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison. 2. Walk among them, I'll go with you. Reach out to them with My hands. Suffer with Me, and together, We will serve them, help them stand. 3. How I wish I were St. Peter, How I wish I were St. John, As we sing our song of love To you in the early dawn. 4. So many stars in the heaven, All I need are two for you; One to greet you in the morning, And the other to say adieu. 5. Brothers, are you sure of your calling, Will you fight for Jesus, the King? Are you prepared in this battle To lay down your lives for your friends? 3. We must stand in unity, By the Spirit made strong. Stand with Jesus, our Captain, And fight till God's kingdom has come. 4. Preach the Savior crucified, Dead, but risen again. Come against the powers of darkness In His glorious name. 5. In the name of God the Father, In the name of Jesus His Son, And in the name of the Spirit, We will fight till we are called home.

ONLY A SHADOW Unknown

The Love I have for you, My Lord, Is Only A Shadow of Your love for me; Only A Shadow of Your love for me, Your deep abiding love. My own belief in you, my Lord, Is only a shadow of your faith in me; Only a shadow of your faith in me, Your deep, and lasting faith. Break: My life is in your hands, my life is in your hands. My love for you will grow, my God; Your light in me will shine. The dream I have today, my Lord Is only a shadow of your dreams for me; Only a shadow of all that will be, if I but follow you. OCACION DE SAN FRANCISCO (PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS)

OUR GOD REIGNS 1. How lovely on the mountains Are the feet of Him Who brings good news, good news.

Announcing peace Proclaiming news of happiness. Our God reigns, Our God reigns.

Our God reigns, our God reigns, Our God reigns, our God reigns.

Our God reigns, our God reigns. 2. He had no stately form He had no majesty That we should be drawn to Him. He was despised And we took no account of Him Yet now, He reigns with the Most High. Now He reigns, now He reigns Now He reigns with the Most High. 3. It was our sin and guilt that bruised and wounded Him It was our sin that brought Him down; When we like sheep had gone astray Our Shepherd came and on His shoulders bore our shame On His shoulders, on His shoulders, on His shoulders He bore our shame. 4. Meek as a Lamb that's led out to the slaughter house Dumb as a sheep before it's shearer; His life ran down upon the ground like pouring rain That we might be born again. That we might be, that we might be, That we might be born again. 5. Out from the tomb He came with grace and majesty He is alive, He is alive; God loves us so see here His hands, His feet, His side. Yes we know, He is alive. Our God reigns, our God reigns, Our God reigns, our God reigns.

Pick right up and take My brother's hand,

And pass My love around. 1. I gave My body and My blood for you, Now this is all that I ask you to do, Now this all that I ask. 2. I lived and died to set men free from sin, Now be My presence to all men, Now be My presence to all men. 3. PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS (Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace)

by Sebastian Temple 1. Make me a channel of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me bring Your love, Where there is injury, Your pardon, Lord, And where there's doubt, true faith in You. Chorus: O Master grant that I may never seek So much to be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love with all my soul. 2. Make me a channel of Your peace. Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope, where there is darkness, only light, and where there's sadness, ever joy. 3. Make me a channel your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, in giving to all men that we receive, and in dying that we're born to eternal life.

Take our bread, we ask You,

Take our hearts, we love You, Take our lives, Oh Father,

We are Yours, we are Yours. 1. Yours as we stand at the table you set: Yours as we eat the bread our hearts can't forget, We are the sign of your life with us yet, we are yours, we are Yours... 2. Your holy people standing washed in your blood, Spirit filled yet hungry we await your food, We are poor, but we've brought ourselves the best we could; We are yours, we are Yours...

THOSE WHO SEE LIGHT by E. Donald Osuna and Nancy Elze

1. Those who see light can walk in the dark. Those who see love can see God. Those who look up will discover God's face. Those who look down will uncover God's path. Those who perceive God is here with us now will see God's return. 2. Those who see light can walk in the dark. Those who see love can see God. Those who have witnessed the sun rise and set, those who have studied a flower unfold, those who have focused on land sea and sky Have seen Jesus Christ. 3. Those who see light can walk in the dark. Those who see love can see God. Those who see good in each person they meet, Those who look after their neighbor in need, Those who believe God's now living in them will see God's return.

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS 1. What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and grief to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer. O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear; All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer. 2. Have we trials and tribulations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged, Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful, Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness, Take it to the Lord in prayer. 3. Are we weak and heavy-laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge, Take it to the Lord in prayer; Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In His arms He'll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there.

WIND WIND BLOW ON ME Chorus: Wind, wind, blow on me;

Wind, wind, set me free; Wind, wind, my Father sent

The blessed Holy Spirit. 1. Jesus told us all about You How we could not live without You With His blood the power bought To help us live the life He taught. 2. When we're weary You console us; When we're lonely You enfold us; When in danger You uphold us Blessed Holy Spirit. 3. When unto the church You came It was not in Your own but Jesus' name. Jesus Christ is still the same He sends the Holy Spirit. 4. Set us free to love each other; Set us free to live for others That the world the Son might see And Jesus' name exalted.
