Instagram• Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service.

• People can apply filters to photos and videos.

• The service was acquired by Facebook in April 2012 for approximately US$1 billi-on in cash and stock.

Snapchat• Using the application, users can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients.

• These sent photographs and videos are known as "Snaps".

• Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their Snaps after which they will be hidden from the recipient's device and deleted.

Pinterest• Pinterest is a mobile application company, which operates an photo sharing website.

• Users can upload, save, sort, and manage images known as pins.

• Users can personalize their experience with Pinterest by pinning items, creating boards, and interacting with other members.

Shazam

• Shazam is a British app for which is best known for music identification capabilities.

• Shazam uses a smartphone built-in microphone to gather a brief sample of audio being played.

• The Shazam app has more than 100 million monthly active users and has been used on more than 500 million mobile devices.

WhatsApp• WhatsApp Messenger is an instant messaging  app for smartphones that operates under a subscription business model.

• In addition to text messaging, WhatsApp can be used to send images, video, and audio media messages.

• In October 2014, WhatsApp was the most globally popular messaging app with more than 600 million active users.

Vine• Vine is a short-form video sharing service.

• The service lets users record and edit five to six-second-long looping video clips and revine, or share others' posts with followers.

• Vine's app can also be used to browse through videos posted by other users.

Viber• Viber is an instant messaging and Voice over IP(VoIP) app for smartphones developed by Viber Media.

• In addition to instant messaging, users can exchange images, video and audio media messages.

• Viber has over 100 million monthly active users from its 280 million global registered users.

Uber• It develops, markets and operates the mobile-app-based transportation network .

• The Uber app allows consumers to submit a trip request, which is routed to crowd-sourced taxi drivers.

• As of December 16, 2014, the service was available in 53 countries.

Google Maps• Google Maps is a desktop and mobile web mapping service application and technology provided by Google.

• Google Maps for mobile is the world's most popular app for smartphones, with over 54% of global smartphone owners using it.

Here (Nokia)• HERE is a Nokia business unit that brings together Nokia's mapping and location assets under one brand.

• HERE has maps in nearly 200 countries and offer voice guided navigation in 94 countries.

• It also offers offline navigation.

Foursquare• Foursquare is a local search and discovery service mobile app which provides a personalised local search experience for its users. 

• Foursquare aims to provide highly personalised recommendations of the best places to go around a user's current location.

Flipboard

• Flipboard is a social-network aggregation, magazine-format mobile app localized in more than 20 languages.

• The software collects content from social media and other websites, presents it in magazine format.

• The application's user interface is designed for intuitive flipping through content.
