CALCILIT© products are produced from plain-white food grade natural calcium carbonate being
free of quartz (SiO2) by a new multistage process.
CALCILIT© grades show low abrasion which stands for long term life of production equipment.

CALCILIT© production is based on selected white marble
The ultimate high standard of whiteness of all grades of CALCILIT© is achieved by a multiple-
step colour sorting procedure which starts in selecting only top-white marble deposits as raw
material sources. During the open pit mining already, the marble stones are pre-selected in size
and colour to guarantee an optimum of whiteness.

individual marble stone is double-checked using a fully automatic optical sorting system.

Using such raw material as feedstock, plain white marble granules are manufactured in a first
crushing and milling process which are marketed under the tradename CALCILIT©.

CALCILIT© granules for plasters
The plaster manufacturing industry asks for plain white marble granules offering a calm particle
structure with no coloured impurities. The plain white marble granules CALCILIT© KA and
CALCILIT© G are fulfilling such requirements to the very best.
CALCILIT 0,7 – 1,2 KA, particle size 1 mm
CALCILIT
© KA and CALCILIT© G granules are manufactured by milling followed by a two-step
sieving process which results in products named according to their particle size range.

The particles are in the range which is giving the product name. Marble is a quite soft material,
so that there is always some fine material created after production by any mechanical handling.
Due to the second sieving process there are no particles in the product which are coarser than
the sieve above the name giving top sieve.

© fine powder grades for coloured systems
The following table shows the fine powder grades of milled CALCILIT© produced in Italy and
Austria produced with reduced amounts of finest particles.
These grades have a precise top cut and no agglomerates. The lack of finest particles of
these CALCILIT© grades allows formulations of utmost brilliance and tint strength in all kinds
of coloured systems and its beneficial rheology often allows highest loadings.

CALCILIT©
fine powder grades for coloured systems
The following table shows the physical data of CALCILIT© 10 KA with its reduced amount of
finest particles compared to typical 5 micron grades available on the market. The following
picture illustrates the difference regarding the particle size distribution of typical 5 micron
material and CALCILIT© 10 KA.
If the gap of finest particles, which CALCILIT© 10 KA offers is filled with any colour pigment, the resulting tinted system shows improved tinting strength and brilliance even at lower consumption of colour pigment.

manufacture finest powder grades of CALCILIT© with exact top cut and balanced particle size
distribution curves with enriched amounts of fines below 2 micron, see the following picture.
The finest powder grades CALCILIT© 1 M and CALCILIT© SUPER are ideally suited for thin
layer applications like lacquers and coatings.

CALCILIT
© finest powder grades in paints and lacquers
Finest powder CALCILIT© grades show their efficiency especially due to their great brightening
power, but also by smooth and glossy surface finishing of the resulting final products in paints
and lacquers. The top cut is precise and CALCILIT© includes no agglomerates.
The following table shows finest powder grades of milled CALCILIT© M produced in Italy based
on our selected marble raw material. In Germany, corresponding grades of CALCILIT© G are
available having the same physical properties.
Typical 2 micron products available on the market have 50 % of particles finer than 2 micron but
much less finest particles below 1 micron. The finest powder grades of CALCILIT© offer benefits
in application due to their higher amount of particles finer than 1 micron.
Whereas the specific surface of CALCILIT© 4 M corresponds to that of typical 2 micron products
available on the market having BET = 3 – 4 m²/g, the specific surface of CALCILIT© 2 M and
CALCILIT© 3 M is much higher than that of typical 2 micron products resulting in higher
coverage and tinting strength.
