OPEN BORDERS FOR BIRDS 24.01.2009

The richness of bird species in nature reflects the quality of the environment we live.

We must study the natural world around us to understand and preserve biodiversity…

…So we decided to exchange information about birds, with their characteristics, habitat and diet, at different latitudes.

Just to begin with we wrote…

…e-mails…

We wanted to start from a practical task : building nest boxes and bird tables!

This united our different countries…

We had to work a lot with computers and the Internet: to learn about birds and to search specific vocabulary

-typical of ornithology- in English, Latin, German, Greek, Italian and Polish

to create a bird database…

To prepare and share the charts to record the information and observations

… we have learnt how to work on Power Points, videos, blogs, forum and our moodle platform…

…also with difficult quizzes on the materials prepared

But we were well prepared!!!

It was long and difficult working on them, both for students and

teachers, but how beautiful was sharing the images of our little

blue tits and redstarts before they flew their nests…

Not only we have learnt about birds…

But also about other countries, their habits and their way of

learning.

We liked this experience very much!

We have had the opportunity of working together even if we were far and far away ,

with common experiences and goals. Now we are ready at cooperating with all over the world

in our future life.
