Our Apple Blossom event is a long-standing tradition here at the WCC. This social golfing event is our first member golf event of the
year, and a great way to meet fellow members in a laid back, relaxing day of golf.
The cost will be $40 per person, except for new members who will have their entry fees waived. The schedule for the day includes lunch before golf, prizes, hors d’oeuvres after play, and new member recognition. Call the golf shop at 359-6164 to sign up! Our head golf pro Doug will be assigning teams so there’s no need to find others to play with-he’ll find them for you!

A note from the manager
What a difference a year makes on the weather front. Through April 18 the Club played over 1,100 rounds of golf in 2010
and 425 in 2009. That compares with zero in 2011 through the same timeframe, which makes it difficult to keep pace with our monthly budget numbers for April. Despite this fact, the Club remains in a good position through the first half of the fiscal year due to very solid food and beverage numbers this past winter.
On the membership front we continue to be in a similar position to last year. As of April 21 the Club stands at 267 golf members and 170 social members. In YTD 2010 the Club had 274 golf memberships and 164 social memberships on the books. As stated many times, the lifeblood of any Club is its ability to retain
and add members to the roster. You as members continue to remain our most important link to future memberships through referrals. If you have friends or business colleagues who have been thinking about joining the Club now is the time to send them to us!
May also begins the heart of the golf season here at the Club. Before you know it leagues will be in full swing and the kids will be enjoying themselves at the swimming pool and in junior golf. Also, don’t forget about our fabulous Mother’s Day brunch scheduled for Sunday, May 8. As I write this correspondence we have close to 500 reservations for Easter Sunday so you should make your Mother’s Day reservations as soon as possible.
We also have a number of other upcoming family activities that Becky is working on for this summer. Look for those details in this newsletter and in the coming months.
As always, if you have any questions about your Club please do not hesitate to call.

The Mill River plan for 2011 is now available. The cost for Mill River will remain the same again this year, at $150. What is Mill River? Mill River is a buying program available only to members of Wausau Country Club.
Mill River works like this… All items sold in the golf shop have two prices—a regular member price and a Mill River price. The Mill River price will be set at 10 percent over cost for equipment and 20 percent over cost for all other items in the golf shop. Those who sign up and pay the $150 fee will have access to the great prices available to Mill River buying club members. If you plan to purchase multiple items throughout the year, then Mill River is for you. Social and Social Dining members are also welcome to sign up for the Mill River buying club. The golf shop stocks wonderful clothing and gift items throughout the year. Call Doug or Robin today if you would like to sign up.

Ask about receiving your statements via email
Did you know that when you get your statements emailed you can see each individual charge on your account? This feature makes it easy to see when you bought that client a beer on the
course, and when you brought your brother to lunch. Call Becky at 359-6161 if you have questions, or would like to sign up!

Upcoming golf eventsThe season was off to a rough start but it looks like things have finally turned around. By the time you receive this
newsletter we will be open and looking forward seeing each and every one of our members. I want to welcome our new members, and if anyone needs anything or has questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Junior golf sign up is included in this newsletter. To sign your kids up for junior golf please fill out the enclosed sign-up sheet and drop it off at the golf shop. If paying by check, please make the check out to Doug Cheever.
The golf shop is fully stocked with merchandise and your favorite clubs. New vendors for 2011 are Cutter and Buck, Fairway and Greene, Adams Golf and Sun Mountain apparel. May specials include golf bags and golf shoes 20 percent off retail. Come check out what we have and don’t forget about Mother’s Day coming soon!
Reciprocal agreements will stay the same with clubs, which include Stevens Point C.C., Bulls Eye C.C. and Eau Claire C.C. In order to play any of these courses please call the Wausau C.C. golf shop and we will make a tee time for you. Members cannot make their own tee time for 2011—it must be made through the WCC.
Now that the golf course is open, try out the new combo tees. We have a White/Blue combo and a Gold/Red combo. The scorecard has the two courses marked by circles to determine which tees to play on each hole. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Looking forward to seeing you at the club.

Membership does have its benefits! Wausau Country Club and Troon Golf are extremely pleased to
announce even more benefits to our golf members with the Troon Privé Privilege. This program provides for our members a formal reciprocal relationship amongst a select collection of Troon managed private clubs. There are currently more than 30 Troon Golf private Clubs, including Wausau Country Club, that are participating in the program. The Troon Privé Privilege perks are in addition to the current Troon Advantage member benefits that you are enjoying. As a reminder, Troon Advantage allows our golf members the opportunity to secure discounted rates at Troon Golf daily fee and resort properties worldwide. These two distinct programs are designed to enhance your golf experience beyond Wausau Country Club, and to offer you, our distin-guished members, greater added value free of charge.
The Troon Privé Privilege benefits include: Wausau Country Club golf members have the privilege to play at other participating Troon Golf private clubs for the host Clubs cart fee rate.
Each member can play up to six rounds at any given facility in one calendar year.
Members are entitled to bring up to three guests that will play for the host Clubs accom-panied guest rate. Rounds are subject to the host Clubs advance booking policy for guest/ reciprocal play.
Access to www.troonprive.com where you can research the facilities participating in the program and request your round. Upon comple-tion of the online form an e-mail request will be sent to both the requested Club General Manager and the WCC. We will take care of the reservation from there.
We hope you enjoy this added value to your membership, and are able to take advantage of the vast array of domestic and international golf access that both programs provide. If you have further questions on either the Troon Privé Privilege program or the Troon Advantage program please do not hesitate to give Michael a call at the Club.

Announces:THEWCC New WCC Sports Membership
WCC is excited to announce a new trial membership program for 2011. The purpose of the WCC Sports Membership is to offer a
dues option that allows limited golf along with full social privileges including family access to dining, pool, social events, tennis, boat docks, etc. Sports members will have the same requirements as full golf members including year-round F&B minimum of $150 per quarter and the capital improvement fund payment of $150 in the summer.
The program will be limited to 25 participants (the same as our current corporate golf memberships). Current golf members will not be allowed to downgrade in 2011 but would have first priority to downgrade in 2012 if the program continues based upon 2011 results. Members would be allowed to stay in this category as long as they’d like, just like any other current classification.
As mentioned above this membership option will be available in 2011 only on a trial basis and not open to current golf members. This will give the Club time to evaluate the program in 2011 and gauge interest from current members on who might want to downgrade in 2012. The WCC Sports Membership will be offered at $1,500. For more information on the details of the program please call Club Manager Michael Rodriguez or Membership Services Director Becky Zoromski.

Hello and greetings from the kitchen. Wow, spring has finally arrived! What a great feeling. We have a bunch of new salads and sandwich selections on our Turne bar menu for you to
enjoy. If you’re looking for a nice light item, we have the cobb salad wrap with grilled chicken, diced tomato, chopped bacon, hardboiled egg and fresh avocado tucked into a herb tortilla wrap. It’s a refreshingtreat for a beautiful spring day.
Friday’s dining menu has some new faces as well. A selection of hand cut steaks and chops has arrived. Start by choosing your steak, then pick two sides from a variety of traditional steakhouse offerings, like giant beer battered onion rings, sauteed brandy mushrooms or creamy spinach to name a few. Finally the toughest decision of them all-what sauce will you choose? It’s a perfect combination of great steak, traditional sides and savory sauces that will rival any steak house in town.
Attention Men’s league: This season is going to be packed with even tastier food. I took notes on the positive feedback from last year’s league dinners and we are going to build on them to make this year’s league meals even better. Don’t forget prime rib is featured on our first league night. The kitchen crew and I would like to thank everyone for joining us for Easter Brunch and our first murder mystery dinner—it was a lot of fun!
Have a great spring!

Bring the family out to the WCC for the Annual Family Scramble on Sunday, June 19 AND celebrate Father’s Day at the same time. We’ll be grilling out with all of dad’s favorite foods, and he’ll be able to burn off all of those calories walking the course and watching the kids show off their golf skills. Does that sound like the perfect day or what?!
Family Scramble
Member-Membergolf tournamentBy June 26, you will be back in full-fledged golf shape and ready to take on your fellow members in the Annual Member-Member Golf Tourney. Join us for the last Sunday in June for three rounds of nine holes—one best ball, one scramble and one alternate shot. Bring it!

Fishing tournamentMay 30 officially marks the opening of the WCC pool for the season! Along with the pool opening, the Club is hosting a grill-out and fishing tournament off the docks near the Club parking lot. Come out, enjoy some burgers and bratz, and reel in the BIG ONE!
Junior orientationDon’t forget to mark your calendars for the June 5 Junior League orientation. At the meeting we’ll get you up-to-speed on all the new things going on with Junior League this season. Plus, we’ll be giving away a set of USA Junior clubs. This is definitely the year your little ones want to start swinging those clubs...OUTSIDE of the house, of course.
