Entering OB & GYN Cases On The List

How many OB or GYN cases should I be entering?Should I be entering all the cases or just enough to fill my numbers and a few more?

Minimum requirement: You need 20 cases that

countOnly the first 2 cases in

each category will count towards that minimum number of 20

Maximum requirement for GYN:You need to enter every

patient you did surgery on

Every non-surgical admission that you did

Ex: PID, TOA, Ectopic

Medical records will be checked and you don’t want to be missing somethingYou don’t have much leeway at all

For OBAny patient you delivered

counts as your patientNon-delivered patients for

example preterm labor Those cases should go on

the list - there is leeway

Group of patients – number varies depending on practiceTotal normal deliver at 37-

42 weeks no complicationsEasy APGAR, no post-

partum complications

Patients that you delivered that falls into that category should not individually list on case list Makes the case list boringExaminer has to look through all normals to find cases of interest

Do not include normal cases on the case list Total number gets entered on case list Normal cases do not get individually listed

For Inductions and AugmentationsShould I add just two or

all of them?

Every Induction should be mentioned on paperIf a patient is induced or augmented can’t be included as normal

If you have a significant percentage of your patients receive Pitocin augmentation To flood your case list with tons of these won’t add to meat of case list

Simple, straight forward augmentations include with normalsABOG says mention all I counseled people just

include them in the number of normals

You will still have a number of inductions on your case listNot trying to hide them just trying to keep case list interesting and vibrant
