NGLSD - Overview

• TIG awarded to Community Legal Aid Services (CLAS) in Akron, Ohio in 2010.

• The Next Generation Legal Services Desktop (NGLSD) is based on the www.igoogle.com content model and is intended to increase the productivity of legal services advocates by giving them a customizable single point of access to a variety of web-accessible legal services centric content useful in service delivery.

Training Today…

► Two different options:

► Open another window to watch the demonstration, review the documentation (step-by-step) and create your own during the call.

► Watch the demo all the way through, then when the documentation is posted to NTAP, download it and work on your own.

Getting Started with Setup► Open another window on your screen. Position the window side-by-side with this Webinar so you can see both windows (use the minimize box in your

window in the upper right-hand corner).

► Follow along as we go through the documentation.

► By the end of this training, your desktop will be ready for you to customize (play with) at your leisure.

LS Gadgets in Development

► Court Directory Gadget - This gadget is an HTML-based gadget connected to a MySQL database (managed by CLAS), there are no security or confidentiality risks to programs using this link gadget.

► Case Management Tickle Gadget - This gadget is a URL –based gadget that links to the user’s case management website. Authentication is allowed based on the users’ access privilege to their program’s case management system through the web. No case information is stored on Google (cloud) servers. Since this gadget is like a “box of (web) links”, users can access this box with mobile devices such as an iPhone.

LS Gadgets in Development

► Legal Aid Lawyer Tech Tip Gadget (RSS Feed) through Blogspot – This gadget would using a free Blogspot account where the tips would be posted as blog entries. Blogspot generates an RSS feed that we can plug into as an rss gadget. Anybody can submit a tech tip by emailing legalaidtechtips@gmail.com.

► HotDocs & A2J Box – Will be a box of links to statewide website, LHI templates.

► Write Clearly Plain Language Gadget– Tool to help advocates write more concisely.
