Why is it worth doing?

Current prevalence of type 2 Diabetes in the UK = 2.5

million

Projected prevalence of type 2 diabetes in 2030 = >4

million

Currently NHS spends just under £10 billion for type

2 diabetes (10% of NHS budget), out of which £8.8

billion is spent on preventable complications.

East Lancs Statistics

East Lancs comprises of 5 boroughs of

1. Pendle

2. Burnley

3. Hyndburn

4. Ribble Valley (excluding Longridge)

5. Rossendale

Patient registered population: 375,667

No of Practices: 56

No of patients on NDH register: 11,779

Beginnings

07/09/2016: 1st Steering group meeting

Monthly meetings thereafter led by Mr. Pete Smith

from FYCCG.

3 yr programme- £8.35m

1st year implementation funds- £80K
