Millennium Development Goals (1990-2015)

2.6 billion people gained access to improved drinking water sources

But is improved drinking water safe?

Water Quality: A global crisis

At least 1.8 billion people drink water that is contaminated with fecal bacteria

Recent national water quality surveys found:•Nepal: 71% of water sources and 82% of household drinking water contained E. coli •Ghana: 44% of sources and 72% of households

“By 2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all.”
