Minutes of the Kick-off Meeting
21st-22nd February 2014

Kick-off Meeting was held in Kotor (Montenegro). The host was the Project Coordinator - University of
Montenegro (Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor) and the Chairman was Prof. dr Danilo Nikolić, the Dean of the
Faculty.
The Meeting objectives were:
� Introduction of the Consortium partners and their mutual networking through communication,
� Familiarisation with the main Project items (wider and specific objectives, workpackages, activities,
outcomes/outputs, management structures, individual responsibilities of each partner etc.),
� Discussion on the Project realization plan for the first implementation year,
� Development of the project management structures.
The Kick-off meeting was attended by 53 participants from 16 institutions. Representatives from the Shkodra
University “Luigj Gurakuqi” as well as the representatives from Institute of Transport, Ministry of Public Works
and Transportation were unable to attend the Meeting.
The Kick-off Meeting started with welcome speeches by the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor
Prof. dr Danilo Nikolić, Rector of the University of Montenegro Prof. dr Predrag Miranović, representatives of
the Montenegrin Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science as well as representative of National Tempus
Office in Montenegro.
Following the welcome speeches, the Dean of Faculty of Maritime Studies, Prof. dr Danilo Nikolić gave a brief
presentation of the MArED Project, related to the project wider and specific objectives, workpackages and
activities.
The project presentation was followed by introducing presentations of the Project partners from PC
institutions, both Montenegrin and Albanian.
During the afternoon session, participants from the EU countries were presenting their institutions. Following
these presentation, the representative of the National Tempus Office, Mrs. Vanja Drljević gave a more detailed
presentation on the legal, organizational and financial aspects of the Project.

In the evening, all participants had the opportunity to visit historical and cultural monuments of Kotor through
an organized guided tour.
The second day of the Meeting started with visit to the Maritime Faculty premises. After the tour, the Dean of
the Faculty Prof. dr Danilo Nikolić gave a detailed presentation on the Project Management, including
establishment of the management structures (Project Steering Commitee, Project Advisory Board, Quality
Control Steering Committee and Dissemination and Sustainability Steering Committee).
Project Steering Committee has been established and consists of contact persons from each partner
institution. Also, the Coordinator sugests that the Project Advisory Board consists of academic partners’
respresentatives. Quality Control Steering Committee has been agreed upon and established, consisting of
representatives from each partner institution and will be responsible of the quality control and monitoring of
all project results. Dissemination and Sustainability Steering Committee has also been established.
The Coordinator presented the rules and responsiblities of each Project partner for the first year of the project
implementation period. After the presentation of Mr. Ranko Lazović from National Tempus Office, the
Coordinator presented abrief Case study in regard with the management of Grant Headings followed by
questions of participants.
At the end of the second day of the Kick-off Meeting, all participants went for a lunch and a tour around the
Bay on a pleasure boat. During the tour, partners had a chance of exchanging their experiences in order to
create stronger bilateral contacts and positive atmosphere as a good base for successful cooperation and
Project implementation.
The Kick-off Meeting was estimated as very well organized and facilitated, with interesting contents and great
opportunity for inter-partner communication and discussion.
The next meeting has been scheduled for April 2014 in Split (Croatia), aiming to bring together all academic project members.
