THE TWINS: The Twins have gone 1-5 through six games on their 10-game, 11-day homestand, going 1-2 against Detroit and 0-3 so far against Los Angeles...today they continue the homestand with the four-game series finale against the Angels...the Twins will enjoy their final off-day of the season tomorrow before hosting Cleveland for three from Tuesday-Thursday. (all 7:10 pm starts)..the Twins have gone 43-31 at home compared to 32-42 on the road...the Twins have been swept in four games at Target Field just four times since opening in 2010, the last being the Angels who did it September 4-7, 2014.

YESTERDAY’S RECAP: The Twins lost to the Angels in game one yesterday afternoon by a score of 4-3 in 12 innings...Kyle Gibson was the starter, allowing three runs in 6.1 innings pitched, as eight pitchers appeared in the game, tying a single-game season-high...in game two, the Twins lost by a score of 5-2...Mike Pelfrey was the starter and loser, allowing four runs in 6.0 innings pitched...the offense combined to go 12-for-72 (.167) on the day with just four extra-base hits...additionally, they went 3-for-15 with runners in scoring position yesterday.

39 AND COUNTING: Joe Mauer has reached base safely in a career-long 39 straight games (since August 7)...in that span, he is hitting .268 (40-for-149) with nine doubles, two home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored, 23 walks and a .364 on-base percentage...it is the third longest on-base streak in club history (since 1961):PLAYER STREAK FROM TO1. THEY CALL HIM THE STREAK: Last night Trevor Plouffe extended his hitting streak to a season-high 10 games...during the streak, he is hitting .378 (14-for-37) with two doubles, three home runs, eight RBI, seven runs scored and a .439 on-base percentage...it marks the third longest streak of his career, the only two longer being 12 games, from June 18-30, 2013 and his career-high of 17, from June 30-July 19, 2012...it is second longest active streak in the AL (Jonathan Schoop - 12) and tied for third longest active streak in baseball.

MORE ON THE TREVOLUTION: Trevor Plouffe has either set a new single-season career-high or is closing in on new highs in several offensive categories...this week, he has set new career-highs in games, runs, extra-base hits and RBI...to set new career-highs in a few categories, he needs: three hits, nine doubles, eight walks and four home runs: GAMES RUNS RBI XBH HITS DOUBLES WALKS HOME RUNSCAREER HIGH: - - - - - - - - 134 (2014) 40 (2014) 53 (2014) 24 (2012)2015: 140* 70* 81* 57* 132 32 46 21* - new career-highs

THE REMAINS: The Twins have 14 regular season games remaining and one off-day...they play Los Angeles-AL once more, Detroit three times, Cleveland seven times and Kansas City three times; they are 33-30 vs. the AL Central and 15-17 vs. the AL West...they play seven more road games and seven more home games; they are 32-42 on the road and 43-31 at home...three of the 14 games are day games while 11 are night games; they are 46-42 at night and 29-31 during the day.

ON THIS DAY IN TWINS HISTORY: In 2004, the Twins won their 88th game of the season and clinched the AL Central with an 8-2 win over Chicago-AL...Torii Hunter went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in the game...it marked the Twins third consecutive division championship.

MINOR MATTERS: Two Twins minor league affiliates are playing for the championship in their respective leagues:• Double-A Chattanooga hosts game four of their five game series with Biloxi (Milwaukee) this afternoon at 2:15 (CT)...Biloxi took the series

lead last night with a 2-0 victory and now lead the series 2-1...left-handed pitcher David Hurblut is scheduled to start for the Lookouts.• Low-A Cedar Rapids hosts game four of their five game series with West Michigan (Detroit) this afternoon at 2:05 (CT)...the Kernels

took a 2-1 series-lead yesterday afternoon with a 3-2 victory...Keaton Steele as the starter, allowing one run on four hits in 7.0 in-nings pitched...left-handed pitcher Randy Rosario will make the start today in game four...a win today would give the Kernels their first MWL Championship since defeating Rockford in 1994.

THIS AND THAT:• Twins are looking to avoid extending their losing streak to six games, which would mark their longest since September 24-29, 2013 (6).• Kurt Suzuki is hitting .381 (8-for-21) with five RBI in his last seven home games.• Since August 1, Tyler Duffey ranks fifth among AL rookies in strikeouts (37) and third in strikeouts-per-9.0 innings pitched (8.61).• The Twins 4.76 runs-per-game at home ranks as the seventh highest in baseball.• In 10 games since August 9, the Twins have walked 42 times, the second most in the AL in that span and fourth best in baseball.

CAREER NOTES

LAST TIME OUT: Earned the win September 14 in the Twins 7-1 victory against Detroit...he allowed one run on seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched...after allowing a single to J.D. Martinez in the first inning, he retired his next nine batters before giving up a single in the fourth...here are a few more notes on his start:• Four of his seven starts this season have been quality starts...he has recorded seven-

or-more strikeouts in each of those games and allowed two-or-fewer runs in each as well...he is 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA (26.2 IP, 5 ER) in those games.

• Duffey has not allowed more than three runs in any of his last six starts...in that span, since August 15, he has a 2.45 ERA, the fifth best in the American League in that time.

• The seven runs of support are the second most he has received in a start this season (14, 8/20 at BAL)...prior to this start, he had received just eight runs of support over his last three games...he had not factored into the decision of each of his three previ-ous starts, but had left with the lead or the game tied in all three of those contests.

TWO STARTS AGO: He went 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts, but didn’t factor into the decision of the Twins 8-5 defeat September 6 at Houston...both runs were charged to Duffey after he left the game with a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning...Jed Lowrie hit a go-ahead grand slam later in the inning.

ON TARGET: Two of Duffey's three wins have been at Target Field...he is 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA (17.0 IP, 4 ER) in three starts here compared to 1-1 with a 4.98 ERA (21.2 IP, 12 ER) on the road...all three of his home starts have been against AL Central opponents.

SUCCESSFUL STARTS: Duffey has not allowed a run in the first three innings in each of his last six starts...opponents have a .125 (7-for-56) batting average the first time through the lineup, .210 on-base percentage and .196 slugging percentage...conversely, opponents have hit .240 (12-for-50) off Duffey the second time through the lineup and .447 (17-for-38) the third time through the lineup.

RIGHT APPROACH: Through his first seven career starts, right-handers have hit .222 (16-for-72) with 14 strikeouts and a .300 on-base percentage...additionally, left-handers have hit .299 (23-for-77) with a .300 on-base percentage off Duffey.

AGAINST THE ANGELS: This will be Duffey's first career start against the Angels.• He has made one career starts against an AL West opponent...he faced Houston on

September 6 at Minute Maid Park, but did not factor into the decision after allowing two runs on six hits with eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched.

FIRST MAJOR LEAGUE WIN: In his second career start, August 15 vs. Cleveland, Duffey recorded his first major league win...he went 6.0 shutout innings, allowing one hit with five walks and seven strikeouts...he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but gave up a double to Francisco Lindor with one out...here is another note from his first career win: • He is the first Twins starter to allow one-or-fewer hits in 6.0-or-more shutout innings

since Anthony Swarzak did so on May 28, 2011 against the Angels...additionally, the last Twins pitcher to go 6.0-or-more innings, allow one-or-fewer hits and allow runs was Francisco Liriano on June 15, 2012 vs. MIL (6.0-1-3-3-4-6-1).

2015 HIGHLIGHTS: Duffey has spent this season between Double-A Chattanooga, Triple-A Rochester and the Twins...here are some of his 2015 highlights: • Began season with 16.2 scoreless inning streak over first three starts, including 10

strikeouts (6.2 IP) in first start April 9 at Montgomery.• Named Southern League Pitcher of the Week and Twins minor league Player of the Week

and was promoted to Triple-A Rochester May 22.• Tossed 13.1 scoreless innings from June 22-July 4.• Did not allow an earned run in 33.2 straight innings from June 17-July 9 (allowed his

only home run this season in the fifth inning to snap the stretch).• Had a perfect game through 5.0 innings on July 21 vs. Gwinnett.• Named International League Pitcher of the Week June 30, making two starts for the

Red Wings, going 2-0, 0.00 ERA (14.1 IP) with two walks and 10 strikeouts, including first career complete game shutout (7.0 innings) June 28 vs. Charlotte (4 hits, walk, 4 strikeouts).
