Management is the process of getting things done with the aim of achieving goals effectively and efficiently

Process- It means the primary functions or activities that management performs to get things done. These functions are planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling.

Effectiveness- It is concerned with doing the right task, completing activities and achieving goals.

Efficiency- It means doing the task correctly an with minimum cost.

PLANNING

• Planning is the primary functions of management. It is concerned with both ends and means, i.e., what to do and how to do it.

• Planning means setting objectives and targets and formulating an action plan to achieve them effectively and efficiently.

• Planning is a trap to capture the future.

ORGANISING

• Organizing is the management function of assigning duties, grouping tasks, establishing authority and allocating resources required to carry out a specific plan.

• Who will do a particular task, where it will be done and when it will be done.

STAFFING

• A very important aspect of management is to make sure that the right people with the right qualifications are available at the right places and time to accomplish the goals of the organization.

• Find the right people for the right job is known as staffing.

DIRECTING

• Directing is telling people what to do and seeing that they do it to the best of their ability.

• Directing involves leading, influencing and motivating employees to perform the tasks assigned to them.

CONTROLLING

• Controlling is the management function of monitoring organizational performance towards the attainment of organizational goals.
