Signing Basics

• Do’s – Always use the correct size sign

holder with product sign. – Keep signing consistent throughout

store. – Always sign sale and clearance items. – Always make sure to walk a sale ad

the night before, and morning of to make sure sales are signed and impactful.

• Don’ts – Never tape a sign to a wall or fixture. – Never use a handwritten sign on the

sales floor. – Do not create signs using word

applications. – Do not use worn or damaged signs.

SOFTLINES SIGNING Basic Signing Standards for all fixtures in Softlines.

Signing Tables

• Place sign holder to the right of the table on the top nest.

• Do not place in front of table. • Do not block with product. • Signing this way will make it easier for customers to

see the sign as well as take the items they are interested in.

Replaces:

Signing Pant Tables and Glass Cubes

• Place sign on right hand side of top level of pant table.

• If dealing with a fixture featuring multiple vendors or sales, center related sign over product showcased below.

T-Stand Signage

All aisle-front t-stand sets are signed. Signage should be placed on the right t-stand.

Any item on sale will have a coordinating sign. Toppers should be used to denote sales and advertised events.

Rack Backers for the Macy’s brands are to be placed on the back arm of the left t-stand. This way they will not interfere with signage.

T-Stand, Four Way, and Rounder Signage Standards

Four Way Signage

Four Ways should be signed to denote sales or vendor groupings not already represented on T-Stands.

Sign holders are placed on the front right arm of fixtures factions the ailes.

If a vendor has more than one fixture, sign every other four way with vendor logos. Signing one in five is the rule of thumb. In the diagram below, red fixtures are signed.

If you have only one fixture per vendor, sign all fixtures to allow customers to find their favorite vendors on the sales floor.

Rounder Signage

Clearance rounders should always be clearly signed. Always separate the different percentage off clearance merchandise to maximize sales.

If different clearance merchandise is combined due to space limitations, use the lowest percentage off sign with clearance topper.

Red “clearance” signs are also available.

T-Stand, Four Way, and Rounder Signage Standards

Toppers

For Sales

Ad related toppers should be used throughout departments to highlight featured items from the ads. Use these toppers with percentage off signs when necessary.

Use “Sale” topper for price pointed items and percentage off items.

Clearance

All clearance fixtures should have a corresponding red clearance topper to get the most visibility.

Signing Walls

• Slat wall signs can be used to sign both walls and Multi Purpose fixtures.

• Place above related product.

• Magnetic signs can be used on face out bars in walls as well.

Signing Multi-Purpose Fixtures

• For items featured on shelves, place sign on the right side of central backing.

• For items featured on the sides, slat wall signs can be used.

• 9UP signs are clipped to the back of sale shoes. • All shoes are labeled on the bottom with regular

price and model information.

Place fact tags to the left of each displayed product. For Sale fact tags, place the sale aisle interrupter on

the right side of the sign. For Another Corps Value fact tags, place the sale aisle

interrupter on the right side of the sign. During Sales, fact tags will need to be replaced with

“dog tag” version which have greater color recognition for customers.

All displayed items must have a coordinating sign.

• Signs should be placed directly under related product.

• During AccessVia Stage II these signs will be replaced by In Line flags.

Beer Cave Bulk Stacks

Beer Cave and Hydration Station Signing Standards

Utilize Beer Cave Floor Stand Signs for bulk stacks on the left front corner of each stack.

Ensure that topper corresponds to the brand. Brand Specific Toppers are available for: Bud Light, Coors Light, Heineken, Pabst, Michelob, Corona, Yuengling, Samuel Adams, Miller Lite, and Budweiser.

END CAP SIGNAGE End caps throughout the store are used to make an impact. Put your best foot forward.

Dust end cap signage frequently to keep your store presentation tidy.

Never leave end cap signage empty.

Spiral Bound Pads

Pricing pads should be used as follows:

Do not use “$” pads with dollar price points. Featuring both Dollar and Cent spiral bound number pads is appropriate. Example: 999 or 19999.

End Cap Signing Standards

End Cap Signing Standards

Use “¢” and Dollar sized pads when working with price points of .99 or less. Example: 99¢ in place of 99.

Use “each” after price points of .99 or less when the end cap features a single item.

When presenting a “two for …” deal, label the end cap that way. Do not split the price for two on the end cap. Example: 2 for 500 instead of 250.

End Cap Signing Standards

Utilize percentage off end caps when there is not a single price point or when directed.

Always center the spiral bound signage on the end cap sign.

Never leave extra spiral bound signage on the end cap. Use only the bound signs needed.

Only use “each” on price points under a dollar. Only use “and up” for end caps featuring multiple items.
