Munnnar, names strikes in your mind with the tea

plantation and lush greenery around you. Munnar

does not have an airport; you can take a flight

either for Cochin which is 110 kilometres away

from the town or the Madurai airport which is 140

kilometres away from the airport. And then you

can hire a bus, train, and a cab.

It is a hill station, located in the Idukki district of

the southwestern Indian state of Kerala. It is

situated at an elevation of 1600 meters above the

sea level. This place has a lush green

environment which invigorates breathing.

“Mattupetty” is a hill station at an altitude of 1700

meters, located at a distance of 13 kilometres. Its

major attraction is the “Mattupetty dam”, its still

water reflects the tea garden around. You can sit

here and enjoy tranquililty and also can take

advantage of to be here, either by trekking in the

Shola forest, or can go for speed boating, pedal

“Attukad Waterfalls” is at a distance of 9 kilometres, it has its full glory only after the monsson.

“Rajamalai” is a part of the Eravikulam National Park, is located at about 15 kilometres distance, from the town. It is a natural

habitat region of the Nilgiri Tahr (Hemitragas hylocres). “Anamudi” stands in the Eravikulam national park, it is a mountain at

a height of 2,695-m, it is the pride of Kerala. It has survival populations of Asian elephants, Gaurs, and nilgiri tahrs. It is

covered with the endemic flora and fauna.

“Devikulam” is a small hill station 16 kilometres away from the town. It is at a height of 1800 meters above from the sea level. It is a breath – taking region, with velvet lawns, cool fresh air and unique flora and fauna. It has lots of opportunities for

mountaineering, hill climbing, and natural trekking.

How can you miss the “Tea museum”, located at KDHP’s Nullatanni estate, it

a-century-old tea plantations in this

region. The “Echo Point” is situated

about 15 kilometres from the town,

hear an interesting echo back. The kids
