Mail Services is the main liaison to the USPS and UPS and eCampus textbook deliveries to campus
Provide postal and shipping consultation and resources to the entire 01003 campus community
We administer the University’s postal permits and safeguard our non profit mailing license by verifying compliance with federal laws for design and content
We assist Residential Life Service desks with misdirected and unclaimed student mail

We collaborate with the 5 College Courier network
We handle campus mail, administrative mail, program Marketing mail (also know as bulk mail) and Distribution Services. All global services are paid for by university funds and are free and available to every UMass dept. and affiliates
Postage is recharged weekly to individual speedtype accounts. The annual postage expenditure for the Amherst campus is approx. one million dollars.

We visit every building on campus collecting and delivering mail, packages and freight that arrives via USPS or by common carrier to the receiving docks at the Physical Plant.
• Staff consists of 16 FT employees, 3 of our Mail staff are Certified Specialists in Mailpiece Design and Mail Center Management.
• Every Distribution staff member is a trained Hoisting Engineer licensed by the state of MA.

• Is the central point for receiving and delivering large freight shipments for all campus buildings from vendors worldwide
• Provides consultation and shipping services for departments’ out-bound ground and freight shipments
• Assists with complex deliveries and intercepts tractor trailer traffic on campus
• Handles all UPS shipments through a central account and recharges depts. through Peoplesoft. Monitors and eliminates most UPS surcharges. Does NOT monitor individual Dept. CampusShip charges
