Strega Nona Science & Social Studies ActivitiesScienceStrega Nona had a magic pot. If you want to make your own magic pot, use the following recipe to make dough and create it! Don’t forget to take a picture to send to your teacher!

Salt Dough Recipe: ● 4 cups of flour● 1 cup of salt● 2 tablespoons of cooking oil● 1 ½ cups of water● Food coloring (if you want to add it)

Mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Then add the oil and water together to the dry ingredients until the mixture is smooth. Then knead the dough. You can separate it into a few different balls and add different food coloring, or you can just leave it one color. Put it in the refrigerator for an hour and then use it! You can leave it out for a few days to dry. Social StudiesStrega Nona takes place in the Calabria region of Italy. Italy is a country in Europe. Find Italy on this map and color it in. What does the country look like?

Strega Nona Her Story Social Studies Activity

In Strega Nona Her Story we learned about how Strega Nona became who she is. She was born, went to school, and was taught by her grandma how to be a Strega. This is like a timeline, which we studied this year. Here is a fun activity. Make a timeline of important events in your life. If you want, add pictures and then send a picture of it to your teacher. You can use this template or create your own!

What connections can you make when you think about Strega Nona’s interesting birth? What do you remember about your birth?

In the story, Strega Nona takes a trip. Have you ever taken a trip before? Gone out of town, even just to visit family? Sometimes when we take a trip, we send postcards home to our friends and family. Design a postcard to send home to your friends or family and write them a note!
