Audacity basics:

Starting a new project:

Open Audacity and save your project to a new folder in your area

If you make a copy of the audio filebefore editing, it will copy the whole file into your project. If you read directly from the original file, it will draw a ‘picture’ of it and play unchanged parts of the file straight from the original sound file. So if you lose it, your in trouble!

Importing audio clips:

Audacity basics:

1. drag and drop the audio file in to the Audacity window

OR 2. Select Import Audio ... in the Project menu

Audacity can import WAV, AIFF, AU, IRCAM, MP3 and OGG files

Editing… Adding effects

Save as an MP3. In school, you will be asked to find the ‘lame.dll’ file. This can be found on the school network
