Ask students what they hear or see in the video.

With the use of flashcards, guide the students to say the target words (Halloween,

ghost, Jack-o’-lantern, mask)

II. Learning Activities (70 minutes)

Play Halloween Smash Up. Divide the students into five groups. Ask one member of

each group to come up to the board. Give each member a plastic hammer. Place the

flashcards containing the target words on the board. The teacher says one of the

four target words. The first student to hit the flashcard with the target word earns

one point for the group. Ask those students to return to their seats and invite the

next members of each group to come up. Repeat the steps until time is up.

The group with the most points wins a prize.

Review the target words with the students using the Halloween slideshow.

Talk about the common activities observed on Halloween.

Introduce the sentence and definition of “trick or treat.”

Have the students create their own masks and Halloween bags.

Divide the students into groups of five or six. Take each group trick or treating

around the school. The students must say “trick or treat” to receive treats.

While the other students are out trick or treating, the rest of the students can

complete their Halloween worksheets.

III. Conclusion (25 minutes)

Play Halloween trivia with the students using the Halloween slideshow . Divide the

students into groups. One member of each group will be given a bell. To answer a

question, the members must ring the bell. The first student to ring the bell and

answer the question correctly earns a point for the group. Then the bells are passed

on to other group members. Repeat steps until time is up. The group with the most

points wins a prize.
