Lesson 6

Color Swatches / Color Mixing GuideIn the Video Lessons I always tell you which Colors I use and which Colors I mix to get the Color I’ll be working with. However, it might make it a little easier for you to print this out and have it handy as a reference while watching the Videos & while working on your Project so you can take a look at the chart.

Supplies• your Watercolor Set • Watercolor Paper (size of your Choice - Din A4 at least or up to Din A3) --> I prefer coldpressed Watercolor Paper because of the Texture - but if you prefer to work on a smooth surface choose hotpressed Paper) - good Brands I would suggest are Canson, Arches, Hahnemühlen, Strathmore)• a Pencil (Hardness: I love to work with a HB or 2H) or a mechanical Pencil if you prefer• Pencil Sharpener & Erazor of your Choice• one or two black finetip waterproof Pen(s) my Favourites: Edding fine tip pen (0,3 or 0,5 tip), Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen “F” or Uniball Eye “fine tip”• Neocolor II Watersoluble Crayon (Color: „Salmon“ for Skin) (could also be replaced with normal Watercolor if you can‘t get it)• Faber Castell Gelato Stick (Metallic Melon - optional - but I use it for „blush“ for my Girls cheeks)• round tip Aqua Brush(es) (for example there’s a Set of 3 by Pentel which I use and love) - a selection of other Brushes - I prefer synthetic Bristles because they are a little „sturdier“ than the natural Bristles which makes blending easier, esp. if you‘re working with Watersoluble Crayons - try to have a fine tip round brush, a larger round brush, a Cat Tongue Brush (Filbert), a rectangular & an angled flat brush and a fan brush• a Mixing Pallette (you could also use the Lid of the Pallette you house your Watercolors in or just an old Plate as I do)• a white Paint Marker (I use a white, fine tip Sharpie Paint Marker (waterbased))• a selection of Stencils (for example by Tim Holtz, the Crafters Workshop, Faber Castell etc. - I use Heike Schäfer Design Stencil in this one & Memory Box (Stars)) • Pallette Knife• white Acrylic Paint• Gold Crackle Medium by Prima Marketing• white Texture Paste (any Brand - I use Kunstpark)• a couple of Bird Feathers to embellish the Piece
