Here’s Me

I am currently attending Medicine Hat College and am working towards a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Visual Communications; graduation, 2017.

I am passionate about capturing the mood of the moment, whether it is the dancing aurorae in the star filled sky, pure joy in a toddler’s eyes, golden rays of the sun as it sets on the breathtaking mountainscape, or the loving glances shared between the newlyweds.

I enjoy expressing myself in various ways. You can find me building pieces of art from just about any material or dreaming up new ways of designing/displaying existing art.

Capturing the delicate balance of high and low key values in the northern lights is a lengthy process, which requires patience and enduring the frigid night temperatures.

Fine Art

BeehiveAcrylic on Clay17” x 11.5” x 14”2015

I am using the Australian aboriginal dot painting techniques to decorate this volumetric piece.

Elephant Acrylic on Canvas 20” x 16”2015

Using Australian Aboriginal dot-painting as inspiration, I use my own colour palette to create this dot-painting.

Hidden Coordinates Graphite, Charcoal, Ink, Tracing Paper, Nails, on Canvas Board [24” x 18” x 1.5”] x 3 2015

I am exploring the way to create a dynamic composition over three pieces of canvas with the use several monochromatic materials. The addition of nails to add a 3D component to the piece creates a cast shadow when displayed under lights.

To create Hidden Coordinates I spent quite a bit of time exploring and experimenting with different techniques and materials. In my preliminary sketches I worked on finding the best hierarchy for displaying the different marks. I spent time stippling the the sphere, drawing subtle lines to add dimension, smudging on layers of charcoal, and arranging the addition of tracing paper and nails to the piece.
