Clean-up is pursuant to Philippine Supreme Court mandamus directing 11 Philippine Government Agencies to clean-up Manila Bay.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

Assisted 116 Local Government Units in the segregation at source and segregated collection.

Assisted 386 Local Government Units in the establishment/operationalization of Materials Recovery Facility.

Implemented in the 764 public elementary and high schools in Metro Manila. Students are required to bring recyclables in school. The recyclables are weighed and recorded with corresponding amount in each student passbook as peso savings.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENTNATIONAL ECO-SAVER’S PROGRAM

Ecological Solid Waste Management Program for Homeowners’ Associations in Metro Manila – This targets 1,000 homeowners’ associations in Metro Manila where they are required to establish their Ecological Solid Waste Management Programs with recycling and compositing components.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENTRECYCLING AND NO TO PLASTIC PROGRAM

10 provinces have issued ordinance on “No to Plastic” policy.

In Metro Manila, 13 out of 17 cities and municipalities are implementing the “No to Plastic” policy.

Organization of the National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools. The Search has awarded 96 regional champions since 2009.

Outranking Australia (48), USA (49), Singapore (52), and Israel (61).

Gained perfect scores in indicators for:

Protecting forest cover (logging ban)

Growing forest stock (National Greening Program)

CO2 per capita (for increasing carbon sequestration by growing forest)

Agricultural subsidies for lowland and upland farmers

Reducing outdoor air pollution
