Karz was the fourth movie of Subhash Ghai after Kalicharan, Vishwanath and Gautam Govinda.

It proved to be a massive blockbuster and career launching platforms for Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim

Ravi is killed by his wife after his marriage. He is reborn as Monty and is now a singer he goes to holiday in Ooty where he recollects his memories from previous life and inquires about his family from first life and his evil wife Kamini.

SUMMARY

Film's music was by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, giving successful numbers like, 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Dard-e-Dil', and who went on to win Filmfare Best Music Director Award for this film,the lyricist received two Filmfare nominations for these two hits.

TRIVIASubhash Ghai's "Karz" has unique things about it's songs. There are six future movies titled after five of the songs in the film. They are "Om Shanti Om", "Main Solah Baras Ki", "Paisa Ye Paisa", "Ek Haseena Thi", "Dard e Dil" and "Aashiq Banaya Aapne".
