A. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:32PM

D. Public Comments
Ms. Mendez reminded everyone that LSC Elections will be happening this spring. The application window is now open and the deadline for application submission is March 5th at 3PM. Anyone who is interested should see Ms. Mendez in the main office.
Ms. Silva spoke on behalf of the Spanish Honor Society’s Pulsera Project fundraiser. She explain about the Puselra bracelets that they will be selling and how the money helps sustains fair trade jobs for about 200 artists.
II. Principal’s Report
A. School Leadership
1. State of the School
A copy of Ms. Puentes’ presentation is attached to these notes.
This is an annual presentation that goes with the SQRP
There was a question raised on how we support students who aren’t planning on going to college. Ms. Puentes responded that every student has a plan and they review those plans with the students. We actively support internships and work/study programs in addition to our college prep.
2. Facility Update
Current School o Getting weekly updates on the work in the building from Sodexo o Currently down an engineer
Met with the head of facilities We can’t function with just 1 engineer Will escalate the issue if not solved soon
o Univents have been repaired but some may be in need of additional repairs
New School o Had a meeting today with the full team.
Talked to parents, students, sports, arts, etc. o It is a live construction site now. o Still plan to open in September 2021 o Hope to use some parking across 65th st.
Need agreement from Bedford Park o Have a timeline by quarter

Athletic Fields o Met with the Alderman
$1.5M to redevelop the park Will start in January and complete in January 2021
o There was a question on having an official document that give Hancock 1st dibs on the facilities. Ms. Puentes said that it will be done and there will be a written agreement on 1st rights.
3. Staffing Update
Ms. Stevens (Math and Financial Literacy teacher) has returned.
We are now 100% staffed.
4. Budget
There are no changes to the budget.
B. Instructional Leadership
1. Teaching and Learning
Teachers are engaged in a Lesson Study by department. o Includes observations, looking at student work, etc.
End of 1st Quarter o Teachers are reviewing curriculum maps and asking questions.
Wrapped up formative data assessments
Beginning coaching the coaches
Midyear PSAT/SAT is scheduled for 2/5/20
There was a question on funds for AP teachers. AP teachers need to make up the time lost due to the strike. Question on whether there were funds to pay teachers for out of hours tutoring, etc. Ms. Garfield replied that we have supported this in the past but need to see a plan. Once she has plans she can work through the budget. She will poll the AP teachers and then come up with a plan in January.
2. College & Career
Going through Guidance Lessons with the students now.
Representatives from Elmhurst College came to Hancock to present a full ride scholarship to one of our students.
Parents should be receiving the Learn/Plan/Succeed information in the mail. This information is customized per student. Parents should be looking for this.
Juniors should be starting to look at colleges now. Naviance helps with college matches

3. Climate and Culture
We have a new club now. The Paranormal Club. Ms. Grant-Snow is the sponsor.
ASM for the fall ends on Thursday o Applications for spring will be in January
Hancock $s Event o Snacks and gear for Hancock $s
Winter Assembly on December 20th o Will have the Gingerbread House contest again o Teachers are planning special events in their rooms
Planning attendance incentives for January 2nd and 3rd.
C. School Management and Daily Operations
1. Expenses
November expenses of $20,248.74 were approved.
2. Budget Transfers
Ms. Puentes asked that these 115 budget transfers be approved: o $556 for a band supply order.
The LSC approved the transfer

A. Athletic Update
A Co-Ed Competitive Cheer

o This year’s cheer squad has cheered in two home games. These games will prepare them for the state tournament on February the 7th 2020
Boys Bowling o The boys bowling season is about two weeks in and they have a
record of 2-1. 2 wins and one loss. This Saturday December the 7th the boys are competing in the red crosstown classic starting at 1:00 pm.
Girls Bowling o The Girls bowling season is starting this Saturday December the 7th at
Lawn Bowl at 9:00 am and are competing in the Red crosstown classic.
Boys Basketball o The Boys regular season is now in full swing. They have played one
nonconference and one conference game.
Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball team finished the pre-season. We played three schools who are in a higher division than us. Our regular season starts this Friday at CISC Longwood for varsity while the JV hosts Juarez high School here at Hancock.
