JAMES COOK WAS BORN ON OCTOBER 27TH, 1728. HE WAS BORN IN THE YORKSHIRE VILLAGE OF MARTON. HE FIRST STARTED SAILING WHEN HE WAS 18 YEARS OLD.

THREE EXPEDITIONS OF JAMES COOK

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE ENDEAVOUR.THIS IS THE SHIP IN WHICH COOK BEGAN

HIS EXPEDITION.

THE RESULTS OF THE FIRST EXPEDITION:

1) observation of the transit of Venus across the Sun;2) the expedition proved that New Zealand are two separate islands, separated by a narrow strait;3) it was possible to map a few hundred miles east coast of Australia;4)it was opened Strait between Australia and New Guinea;5)botanists have collected a large collection of biological samples.

THE SECOND CIRCUMNAVIGATION (1772-1775 YEARS)

THE RESULTS OF THE SECOND EXPEDITION:

1) January 17, 1773 ships crossed (the first time in history), the Antarctic Circle;2) September 3, 1774 was opened in New Caledonia.

THIRD CIRCUMNAVIGATION (1776-1779 YEARS)

“ENDEAVOUR”

THE RESULTS OF THE THIRD EXPEDITION:

1) Were discovered the Hawaiian Islands, Christmas Island and other islands.

Evening of February 14, 1779 Captain James Cook was killed by the inhabitants of the Hawaiian Islands.February 22, 1779 Cook remains were buried at sea.
