ITINERARy... Day 1 Rome The iconic sights, fashionable streets
and spacious piazzas of this ancient city are best explored on foot.
Try to pack in those unmissable icons such as the Colosseum,
the Spanish Steps and the Roman Forum. While sightseeing in
Rome, be sure to do as the Romans do by sipping an espresso
at one of the tiny, streetside cafes. For those captivated by the
‘Eternal City’, throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain to ensure a
return visit to Rome. Days 2-3 Florence Marvel at the wonders
in this ‘outdoor museum’, including the 13th century Duomo with
its fiery depiction of the Last Judgement. Perhaps stroll through
the famed Uffizi Gallery or admire Michelangelo’s David in the
Galleria dell’Accademia, then climb to the Piazzale Michelangelo
for sunset views of Florence across the city’s rooftops. Days 4-6
Lucca/Pisa With its narrow streets, centuries-old churches and
ancient ramparts, the medieval town of Lucca radiates charm.
Explore the surrounding countryside by bicycle, perhaps stopping
along the way to enjoy a Tuscan picnic. Take a day trip to Pisa to
see the world-famous Campo dei Miracoli, home to the Baptistry
and, of course, its quirky leaning tower. Days 7-8 Cinque Terre
Walk the coastal path that links the five villages and be rewarded
with stunning views and fresh sea air. For a more relaxed journey,
take the local train between the clifftop towns. Afterwards, feast
on succulent seafood, relax with a gelato or take a dip in the
warm waters of the Mediterranean. Days 9-10 Piedmont Visit
the glamorous resort of Portofino, enjoy a boat trip to Santa
Margherita, then head to Piedmont where mouth-watering
culinary delights await. Be sure to try a dish flavoured with truffle
and quaff local wines celebrated the world over. Days 11-12
Milan/Italian Lakes Begin the day sashaying through stylish
Milan then head to the lake country in the afternoon. Unwind
by the emerald waters of Lake Como or take to the hills for great
hiking and expansive mountain views. Beautiful Bellagio is only a
short ferry ride away. Days 13-15 Venice Discover the magic of ‘la
dolce vita’ in one of the world’s most romantic cities. Stroll past the
Grand Canal, the Rialto Bridge and the evocative Bridge of Sighs
before this Italian odyssey concludes.

Umbrian Discovery
Tuscan Express
ITINERARy... Days 1-2 Venice Be enchanted by the maze of
streets and alleyways, tiny bridges and winding canals in this
charming city. On a walking tour, pass many of the city’s famous
sights including the Rialto Bridge, the Basilica di San Marco and the
wonderful Bridge of Sighs. Board a traghetto to cross the Grand
Canal, stride through the pigeon flocks in the Piazza San Marco,
or browse the shops for carnival masks. Days 3-4 Gubbio Take a
funicular up the steep slopes of Mt Ingino to the hilltop basilica, in
which lies the mummified body of Saint Ubaldo - Gubbio’s patron
saint. Hike through high pastures to enjoy memorable views over
the Umbrian countryside. To make the most of the town’s stunning
mountain scenery, be sure to dine al fresco at an atmospheric
streetside cafe - perhaps try the local tartufo and porcini ‘steaks’.
Days 5-6 Assisi/Spello Home of Saint Francis, namesake of the
Franciscan order, Assisi is one of Italy’s most important religious
towns. The many wonderful sights here include the Basilica di
Santa Chiara and the Basilica di San Francesco. After time spent
sightseeing in Assisi, take a day trip to Spello, perched on the side
of Mt Subasio and dotted with ancient Roman monuments. Taste
the region’s renowned wine at a local enoteca. Days 7-8 Rome
The lively city of Rome is crowded with ancient ruins and religious
artefacts, yet it buzzes with modern life. There’s plenty of time to
visit some of the city’s famous landmarks, including the Colosseum
and the Pantheon. Be sure to sit for a moment on the Spanish Steps
and stop for a gelato or a strong espresso at a cafe.
ITINERARy... Days 1-2 Pisa Begin the Tuscan adventure in the
home of the Leaning Tower, an architectural oddity that seems
to defy gravity. Find out why it leans and perhaps climb its stairs
for a different perspective. After spending time marvelling at
the tower, be sure to explore the other sights in the Campo dei
Miracoli - the Baptistry, Camposanto and Duomo are all located
here and well worth a visit. In free time, a day trip to Lucca is highly
recommended. This charming, walled city has many fine museums,
cobbled piazzas, chic boutiques and gorgeous cafes. Days 3-4
Siena Travel to one of Tuscany’s most captivating cities. While its
rival, Florence, bloomed during the Renaissance, Siena’s striking
architecture is strictly Gothic. Admire the frescoes in the Duomo,
enjoy an aperitivo in the Piazza del Campo and catch sweeping
views of the surrounding countryside while roaming Siena’s
meandering streets. Spend a day in delightful San Gimignano and
sip on the local tipple during a winery visit in the famous wine
region of Chianti. Days 5-7 Florence The cultural heart of Tuscany
bursts with religious treasures and Renaissance masterpieces. It’s
been said that during the second millennium, a third of Europe’s
most important artists lived in Florence. With that in mind, don’t
miss visiting the Uffizi Gallery, home to artworks by Botticelli,
Caravaggio and Raphael, and widely considered to be one of
the finest galleries in the world. Follow the crowds up to Piazzale
Michelangelo to catch the sun’s last rays as it sets over the city - the
perfect way to end an enchanting week in Tuscany.

Athens to Santorini
ITINERARy... Day 1 Santorini Arrive early to soak up the sun
while basking on the black-sand beaches or to cool off with a
refreshing swim in the azure Aegean waters. Do as the locals do
and hire a scooter to explore the island further - visit the ruins of
ancient Thira and Akrotiri or find a quiet spot and enjoy sweeping
views over the caldera. Days 2-3 Ios Follow narrow streets
through town to remote, sandy beaches and make the trip up to
Panagia Gremiotissa - marked by windmills and a lone palm. Visit
Byzantine churches and try a sip of ouzo with locals among the
whitewashed buildings in Hora. Feast on delicious fresh seafood,
then head to the bars to experience the island’s famed nightlife.
Days 4-6 Naxos Discover rich mythical and archaeological history
on a hike around Naxos, an island shrouded in racy romantic tales
of misbehaving gods. Visit the temple of Apollo, the ruins of a
Greek castle and a liqueur distillery. Take time to enjoy the tavernas
and bakeries in the medieval castle area, then perhaps take a swim
in the warm waters before ending the day with a glass of Naxos
wine - reputed to be the antidote for a broken heart. Days 7-8
Athens Named after the goddess of wisdom, insights into ancient
Athens are evident around every corner. Get aerial views of the city
from the Parthenon, take a walk past the Temple of Olympian Zeus
or simply sit back in the streets below the Acropolis and reflect on
the city’s status as the ‘Birthplace of Western Civilisation’. Perhaps
enjoy a final group dinner and make a toast to the conclusion of
this grand Greek Island adventure.
ITINERARy... Day 1 Athens The starting point for this Greek
odyssey is Athens, capital of ancient and modern Greece. Arrive
early to visit the iconic Parthenon, kick back with a glass of ouzo or
sit in shady Syntagma Square before embarking on an adventure
over the sparkling Aegean Sea to explore the Cyclades, some
of the most famous of Greece’s thousands of islands and islets.
Days 2-3 Syros Scenic Syros in the Aegean is made for walking.
Discover abandoned windmills, ancient ruins and charming villages
on the network of stone-paved tracks that crisscross the island.
Cool off with a dip at one of the inviting beaches dotted around
the coast. Days 4-5 Mykonos Named in honour of Apollo’s
grandson, Mykonos is a classic Greek island with squat white
houses brightly juxtaposed against the cerulean sea. Follow narrow
flower-bordered paths, past ancient churches and tiny restaurants,
to secluded, sandy beaches and spend the afternoon soaking up
the rays and splashing in the water. As the sun sets, join Europe’s
party crowd at one of the island’s many bars and clubs. The next
day, take a trip to see the archaeological site on the sacred island
of Delos. Days 6-8 Santorini The journey ends in the southern
island of Santorini. Renowned for its spectacular natural beauty
and its submerged caldera, the island is one of Europe’s top tourist
hotspots. Relax on a beach of black sand, see the ruins of ancient
Thira and Akrotiri or hire a scooter to cruise the coastal roads. In
the afternoon, join the crowds scattered over the hillside at Oia to
witness a magnificent sunset over the sparkling water.

Istanbul in Depth
Cappadocia Explorer
Gallipoli Pilgrimage
ITINERARy... Day 1 Arrive Istanbul Unearth the treasures of
one of the greatest cities on earth. With a local guide, head off
through Sultanahmet to the Blue Mosque. Mingle with enthusiastic
vendors in the Grand Bazaar, take time out in the Suleymaniye and
Rustem Pasha mosques, delve into the many delights of the Spice
Bazaar and be awed on a visit to Aya Sofya and Topkapi Palace.
Experience Turkish hospitality - and a home-cooked meal - with
a local family, then cap off the day by soaking up views of this
intoxicating city from a popular local hangout. Day 2 Depart
Istanbul Start the day with a scrub at a traditional hamam. Once
revitalised, set out to discover some lesser-known sights. Check out
modern-day Istanbul while strolling through Taksim and Beyoglu,
then step into the past on the streets of Pera. Visit Armenian, Greek
and Catholic churches before winding up this city break.
ITINERARy... Day 1 Arrive Goreme Set amid the surreal
Cappadocia landscape, Goreme is a magical little village. Get
acquainted with this region on a full day of sightseeing with a
local guide, including a visit to the Derinkuyu underground city.
In the evening, be treated to Turkish hospitality while savouring
a delicious meal in the home of a local family. Days 2-3 Goreme
Take to the skies on an optional balloon ride for unforgettable
views. Back down on earth, enjoy guided explorations of the
surrounding vineyards, valleys and magnificent fairy chimneys
by foot and by bike. Marvel at a restored caravanserai that once
was used by merchants to trade their wares. Get swept up in a
mysterious Sufi performance and be dazzled by traditional dance
and live music at a Turkish folklore evening in a cave setting. Day 4
Depart Goreme Say goodbye to wonderfully bizarre Cappadocia.
ITINERARy... Day 1 Istanbul/Gallipoli Transfer from Istanbul
to the Gallipoli Peninsula. Be guided through Anzac Cove, the Nek
and Lone Pine and discover the beauty and serenity of a land that
saw one of the most horrific battles of modern times. Hear stories of
the tragic events that unfolded on 25 April, 1915 - a stark contrast
to the peaceful outlook that greets visitors today. Walk through
the trenches and be transported back to a moment in history
that saw repeated feats of heroism and great camaraderie among
fellow diggers and the enemy, and defined the true meaning of the
Anzac spirit. Spend the night in a traditional fishing village. Day 2
Gallipoli/Istanbul There are plenty of optional activities to start
the day, from snorkelling over a WWI shipwreck to a tour around
the site of Troy. See a replica of the wooden Trojan horse and
wander among the ruins before journeying back to Istanbul.
