There are places for twelve men to use this toilet at one time. It was built between 100 and 200 BC in Africa.

When the toilet handle is pushed, water rushes from the tank into the bow.

This forces the water and waste in the bowl to empty into the sewer drain.

When the water level in the tank drains, a stopper opens. The tank refills with water.

Large tanks collect waste from the sewer main. Liquid waste is separated from solid waste. Solid waste is burned or spread on farm fields as a fertilizer.The liquid waste is treated and then returned to nearby lakes and rivers
