IGas is one of Britain’s leading onshore oil andgas exploration and production businesses.

Production – 30 conventional fields and over100 producing wells.

The field was discovered in the 1996 by Premier Oil plc on drilling a well into the Beatrice Formation.

Production began in May 2012 and, prior to being temporarily shut-in for a routine workover, was producing approximately 200bopd gross and in excess of 2mscf/d of associated gas.

IGas acquired Caithness Oil in December 2013.

The acquisition was for a 100% interest in the Lybster Field which is drilled from onshore to offshore.

The oil has been transported and sold to facilities at Nigg.

Our plans are to develop the site from a temporary production process, where flaring of gas is currently required, to a permanent production process requiring flaring only for operational reasons

To do this, will require us to:

Install Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) equipment

Install a more efficient site process plant to allow us to separate the gas, oil and water into three separate components

The predominant production will be gas.

Our modelling suggests that the maximum production rates will be around 35,000 m3 of gas per day (22 tonnes or 1.2 mmscf/day).

The proposal is that the gas produced will be utilised in three ways:

to supply energy for the production process plant;

as a fuel for generating power on site, and;

the remaining gas being compressed on site (CNG).

Following discussion with the Planning Authority, an EIA planning application has been commissioned and a number of independent consultants have been engaged and their study work is currently in progress.

In addition to the usual planning issues these studies typically include;

Further environmental permits are required and discussions are ongoing with SEPA(Scottish Environmental Protection Agency).

The gas produced will require a maximum of two tankers per day (4 ‘movements’) with the gas being compressed directly to the trailer meaning no additional fixed site storage will be required.

The separated oil will be stored in a static tank and, for onward movement to a refinery from site, will involve 3 tankers per week (6 tanker movements).

The produced water will be treated and stored on site prior to disposal via an authorised route and will involve up to a maximum of 3 tankers per week (6 tanker movements).

Under normal working conditions, all tanker movements will take place Monday to Friday and Saturday morning.

Traffic

There are currently 3 people employed permanently on site.

The development work would involve a number of contractors, sourced locally where possible.

On completion of development there will be work for 3 full time employees with additional need for 3 drivers and 2 head office support staff involved, as and when required.

The site development will be subject to planning timescales but it is proposed that the project build and commissioning will take place during late 2016 with commercial production during 2017.
