Here we go….March is here and riding season just a breath away. Have you looked at our ID-H calendar and Idaho District website lately? It is filled with workshops, rallies, potlucks, breakfasts, dinners and other events all over our GWRRA Region. Have you noticed that ID-H and even GWRRA has a busy schedule? This is so that you can enjoy the ‘FUN’ at almost any time dur-ing the coming months. We; (your ID-H staff); have tried to have something going on at different times, days during the months. Activities that will suit your needs; help you become better riders, and then fit these into your schedules. After all this is your chapter and without your input, we could not do what we do. Have FUN. If you have any other ideas for this year, please let your staff know, so we can add it to the calen-dar. Rich Davis, Dave Irvine & Billie Leonard are helping me with setting up our rides for this year. We will be doing day rides, picnic rides and a couple over-nighters this summer. You now ask…when will there be time with all the trips/rallies we have on the schedule? You may not be able to do everything that we list in the course of the year, but our Chapter is FUN and we like to give you lots of options for getting to know the other members and become an active part of our GWRRA ID-H Family. As with setting up our ride schedule in the next couple months, we are also set-ting up a phone list for you to have in case you want to do an impromptu ride or lunch and would like to contact another member to join you. IF you DO NOT want to have your phone number out there, please let me know so I can take it off the list.

Our Breakfast Gathering will still be held on March 19th. Breakfast is at 8am and meeting held at 9am. Pat Holmes has volunteered to oversee this one as Alex and I will be doing a seminar at the Eastside Rider Ed Workshop that day in Pasco, WA. I want to thank Pat for stepping up to help with this. Please be sure to welcome Del and Peggy Bryan when you see them. They just joined this past month along with Ed Schafer and his wife and son.

I’m seeing many riders on the highways as the weather improves; will to be out and

about myself, as soon as my bike is ready. One of the reasons I see motorcycles is I am

looking for them, many other drivers are not, so make yourself visible!! Still much

sand, gravel, and other debris on the roadways, use caution! Frost in the shaded corners

is still happening in the mornings.

RIDE DEFENSIVELY…

Nearly two-thirds of all motorcycle accidents are caused by a driver violating a rider's

right-of-way. Usually this is because the motorcyclists were not seen. To avoid this, YOU

MUST RIDE AS IF NO ONE ELSE ON THE ROAD CAN SEE YOU!

Helpful tips to remember:

*Slow down at intersections and ride through carefully.

*Watch for turning vehicles.

*Stay out of driver's blind spots.

*Signal well in advance of any change in your driving pattern.

*Don’t assume a driver sees you, even if eye contact is made.

*Use your horn when necessary or if you aren't sure a driver can see where you are.

*RIDE PROUD… DRESS LOUD

Be careful when you approach another vehicle. It's hard for drivers in oncoming vehicles to

accurately judge how fast your motorcycle is moving. That's why it's up to you to make sure

you can react safely if another driver suddenly turns or pulls out in front of you. Also, make

sure you have plenty of space between you and the vehicles in front of you. Remember, if

you don't look out for yourself on the road,

…no one else will.
