HOW TO UPGRADE OCTOPUS TO A NEW VERSION ?

1. Forewords

2. Uninstall the old Octopus client

3. Install the new Octopus client

4. Migrate your database

OCTOPUS is an ‘agile’ software:• It means that on the contrary to most system, new versions are

released very frequently• So check regularly the website: an issue or a limitation that you

face, may be resolved in a more recent issue

This does not mean that OCTOPUS is unstable !• It just means that it is continuously improving, according to the

needs of its users• The development team follows a state-of-the-art process that

prevent the regression a new bugs (Test-drived development)• The released version are extensively tested, and their stability is

guarranteed

Forewords

1. Uninstall your old Octopus client

! Don’t worry, your data is still stored in your computer and you will not face any difficulty to upgrade it!

• Go to ‘Configuration Panel’

• Go to ‘Uninstall an application’

• Select ‘Octopus Microfinance’ and click on ‘Uninstall’

2. Download and install the latest version

• Download the ‘Client Octopus’ available on the website

• Run the .exe file and read the Terms of Use

3. Migrate your data

Start the application from your desktop

This message appears:

Click on the button

‘Upgrade data’

3. Migrate your data

Your database is the automatically upgraded !

! When restarting the software, you may see this:

Click on ‘Edit settings’ and re-enter the connection parameters

Reminder: connection settings

Server: - ‘IP address of the server’\

sqlexpress

- or ‘name of the computer’\sqlexpress

- For instance: ‘Vincent-PC\sqlexpress’

Database:

name of your branch

Reminder: connection settings

User name: sa

Password:

password saved during the configuration of SQL Server

(in our case: octopus).

Click on ‘Continue’

(the application restarts and your data will be upgraded)
