I taught myself the basics of programming over a few days reading the first 100 or so pages of this book in 1998.
Since then picking up programming languages has been fairly easy.
You don’t need loads of books with 1000s of pages.
Learn the basics then focus on reading great code and improving your skills.
It takes a long time (10 yrs?) to really learn to program.
