Hostagel® PH1Efficient thickener for acidic formulations
Hostagel PH1 application concentrations of 2–3% active is consistent with the market average
(1.8 – 4.0%) and easily allows the adjustment to customer needs (concentration, viscosity target,
sheer & storage stability e.g. in presence of amine oxides)
Additional use of amine oxides furthermore increase detergency and controlled foam formation
of the end-product
Reduce the formulation costs due to lower active content as the viscosity can be raised through
higher acid levels
Improved convenience: Hostagel PH1 combines detergency properties with rheology modification
in one formula
Ease of use:
89%-surfactant blend of quaternary ammonium salt and ethoxylated fatty amine containing
propylene glycol (1,2-propandiol) and IPA; a slightly viscous liquid at room temperature

▪ 2% tel quel Hostagel PH1 are sufficient to yield the (market) target
viscosity between 1000–2000 mPas
▪ Hostagel PH1 provides more initial viscosity at comparable raw material costs
▪ Use of amine oxide increases the detergency, provides foam and helps to stabilize color and viscosity
▪ A wide range of organic and inorganic acids can efficiently be thickened in presence of Hostagel PH1 allowing for tailor-made end-formulations
▪ Less acidic bathroom cleaners can be formulated using acetic acid or citric acid together with Hostagel PH1 in presence of sodium chloride
▪ Elevated sensitivity on sheer stress allows for easy processing and filling of Hostagel PH1 during production
▪ Hostagel PH1 provides excellent viscosity during the whole product life
cycle of a toilet bowl cleaner (three month) providing lasting viscosity for at least one year.
