Last Friday Parents Club hosted out
traditional Whole School Christmas Lunch in
the Kialla District Hall. Students and staff
enjoyed roast chicken, roast potatoes, mixed
vegetables, gravy and a bread roll. This was followed
by ice cream, Christmas M & Ms, a chocolate Santa
and chocolate topping. We had all the Christmas
trimmings including: a tree, Santa hats & bon bons.
This is a very unique experience that has been a long
tradition at our school. I would like to sincerely
thank our amazing Parents’ Club and our helpers on
the day. Such events are just not possible without
you! Photos will be in next week’s newsletter.
The fun continued on Friday night with our
K.C.P.S. Student Disco. It was great to see so
many of our students attend this event and
have so much fun. There were some amazing dance
moves on the dance floor, singing that was
interesting and laughter that was infectious! The
song of the night was definitely ACDC’s
Thunderstruck! Thanks to our parents for
supporting this event, John Kerr from Nitro Disco,
Mr Z, Miss Baker & Mrs O for their help.
I would also like to thank the Kialla District Hall
Committee, in particular Zena & Sandy Proven
(bookings officers), who always look after K.C.P.S.
Today was Victoria’s State wide Orientation
Day for students transitioning to secondary
school and our Kinder kids who are heading to
primary school. There was a buzz of mixed emotions
from Mr Z’s room on Monday. There were times of
excitement and times of uncertainty … “but what if
…” This was the 3rd session for our new Foundation
students at Kialla Central. They have a morning
session, an afternoon session and then the whole day.
All of our students spent the day in their grade for
2017. An enjoyable day was had by all! I look
forward to hearing the adventures of our Grade 6s.
On Monday 5th December I sent home a
note regarding our School Concert. The
note outlined what costume each grade or student is
required to have. Jacquie Monk has sourced a lot of
the props and overlay costumes from Grahamvale
Primary School. If you have any questions about the
costumes please come and see Tracey Opie or myself.
I would like to take this opportunity to thanks
Damien Hunt who is picking up the risers on Friday
morning for our concert from Notre Dame that
Jacquie has organised. Thanks Damien!
Booklists for 2017 went home last week
with each student. These are due back to
school this Wednesday 7th December. All booklists are
due back regardless of whether you are purchasing
items from another supplier. Payment & pick up of
supplies is on Tuesday 24th or Wednesday 25th
January from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
This coming Thursday is our Grade 6’s
Graduation dinner and ceremony. Parents’
Club host our Graduation Dinner based on the menu
and theme selected by the students. The staff and
students enjoy sharing some quality time together
over a meal before the formalities begin. A couple of
our Grade 5 students are asked to be waiters and
waitresses for our dinner.
At 7.30pm family and friends join us in the formal
part of the evening. Students share their “Primary
School Memories and Future dreams” presentations.
Mr Zito speaks about each student and they are
presented with their Graduation Packs. This
concludes with a slideshow of the Grade 6’s journey
through Kialla Central. Families and friends enjoy
supper before heading home. Once again a big thank
you to our highly dedicated Parents’ Club for making
this a special part of our Grade 6’s celebrations.
Our Semester 2 Student Academic
Reports will be sent home on Friday 9th
December. Our staff take pride in
knowing every student as an individual and I believe
our reports reflect this. We have quite an extensive
process that we go through before getting to the
final printed copy that is sent home. I would like to
acknowledge the dedication and high level of
professionalism of our teachers: Mr Zito, Miss

Baker and Mrs Gamble.. The production of our reports is a team effort with administrative support from Mrs Opie and Mrs Stonehouse. Thank you to our remarkable Kialla Central Team!
On Friday 16th December we are having our local End of Year Excursion. Permission notes were sent home on Monday outlining
the day. We are leaving Kialla Central at 8.45am and heading to Lake Victoria in Shepparton. We will divide into 2 groups and do a rotation of activities. Morning tea and drinks will be supplied so students are not required to bring anything. At 12.00pm we are at Spaghetti Hollow for a sit down lunch. Special thanks to Karli and the Crew for offering to put lunch on again for us this year. We are then heading around to Village Cinemas for a private viewing of the movie “Sing” which is not released to the general public until Boxing Day. We anticipate that we will return to school at 3.30pm. Please note: the later pick up time. This is a whole school excursion that requires all staff members to attend leaving no one at school. Heather Adderly and Dale McCully are also joining us for our end of year celebrations.
A uniform order will be going home this week. We are looking at introducing a new polo shirt for next year as our current polos are just not wearing as well as they should be. There will be a transition period where both types of polos can be worn. There are still a few of our current style in the uniform cupboard that will be offered at a discounted price. There is also a new bucket hat being introduced to replace our broad brimmed. Finally, there are a couple of style changes with our shorts, skorts and pants that will be phased in as stock is replaced. Thank you to the uniform working group for your input. Our uniform has been reviewed based on the feedback from parents and students from the KCPS surveys I conducted. Your
input and feedback is valuable!
There will be NO Outside School Hours Care on Tuesday 20th December. School finishes at 1.30pm as this is the last day of the term so please ensure you have alternative arrangements in place.
Thank you to Terry Dohnt who maintains our grounds on a voluntary basis. Last week he mowed our lawns.
Also thanks to Alan Keat who gave our oval its first mow since it was scarified and the new sprigs plant-ed. Andy Ryan has been keeping a very close eye on its progress.
If anyone has walked past our vegetable gardens lately you would be impressed to see lots of healthy plants growing. Recent additions include: corn, strawberries and some tomatoes. A big thank you to Zoi Tricarico for our vegetables gardens!
Finally, I would like to wish Mr & Mrs Stonehouse all the best for the upcoming wedding of their eldest daughter Ellen to Chris this Saturday. Ellen is a teacher at Orrvale PS and is the first of the Stonehouse kids to get married. Congratulations!
Next week’s newsletter is the last one for the year. It will go home on Wednesday or Thursday next week due to our School Concert and Presentations.
